RE: Free Servers For Hive Projects

in HiveDevs20 days ago (edited)

I don't want to be a party pooper, but I must say this post gives off some mixed vibes.

In todays reality the fact that many usefull project will likely need to trust the VPS with at least a posting key, combined with the fact that the @hivedatacenter account wasn't even an hour old when this was posted does raise some red flags.

Reputation matters.

If this is real, and I really hope it is, it is an amazing initiative and the people behind it should IMHO be proud of it and put their established reputation behind it.

If for now we assume that it is real, it might be usefull to offer a smaller docker based option too and maybe look into cooperation with devs as to offer a few standard docker images.

If the people behind it disclose their involvement and reputation I'll be happy to throw in a few dozen hours at making a HIVE archeology bot docker that fits the provided service. Likely with a patch for a "hosting" entry to the beneficaries list.

We can understand that. We'd rather not share who we are. But we have been around on hive since the steem days. Easiest way is to test with stuff that isn't important(which is what this whole project is about, starting small to grow, this isn't meant to be your main project server to run everything). Plenty of things can be run without needing your keys. Throw a static site up :)
