scaling and being efficient is good.
I know they will be smart contracts on a side database or something like that at some point.
But IMO, fixing the social ( open it to more people) is the key element.
this part should be the one with the highest focus on it. Smart contracts are cool, but not new anymore.
Social makes hive unique.
Without scaling improvements, social improvements would be doomed to failure by technical limitations. And scaling improvements allow for other innovations, beyond just social ones.
i understand it 100% :) scaling is the backbone.
