Today I turn 39 (I'm almost forty) and that made me think about what I've achieved, what I haven't, and my dreams to fulfill.
I have fulfilled my dream of being a writer. I haven't written what I would like to write yet, nor everything I would like to, but I don't think I'm doing badly. I've even built up some reputation and national recognition.
Maybe I should compete a little more, but for now I feel happy writing.
I have managed to create and surround myself with a family. I have a beautiful woman by my side and two children that I love as if they were my own.
For someone whose family consisted of only two people, mother and aunt, having a family of their own to worry about and take care of is a big step forward.
Now my family is bigger and more united.
I have friends.
In these almost forty years I have learned that partners and colleagues are not the same as FRIENDS. I have managed to surround myself with good friends, good people. Of those beautiful people who brighten your life and who are there in good times and bad.
And I'm not posting photos because, to my delight, there are several of them and I'm too lazy to look for images with them.
They are my friends and it's my birthday, you'll forgive me 😁.
I HAVE SEEN ALMOST THE ENTIRE COUNTRY.
Anyone who knows me knows that this has been one of my dreams since I was a child: to see Cuba.
I have been to Pinar, Mayabeque, Artemisa, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, La Isla de la Juventud, Santa Clara, Camagüey, Las Tunas (of course), Santiago de Cuba, Guantánamo, Granma and you could say that I've been to Sancti Spiritus, because I've been to Topes de Collantes twice, but not to the city of Sancti Spiritus.

Oh, and I'm from Havana, so that's why it's not on the list.
I only have Holguín and Ciego de Ávila left to visit, but the latter is already planned for the Book Fair in March, so it's almost crossed off the list.
I was able to take the kids to Havana to meet my mother and go for a walk. They are great and deserve it.
They really deserve more, but little by little
And yes, the kids are almost 14 and 16, but they will always be kids 😊.
I have learned to enjoy the little things in life, such as, for example, the birth (or rebirth) of a Chinese plum plant that one of my friends @yuslenismolina gave me
This plant was almost a meter high when the neighbor, cleaning up my yard, cut it down by mistake. I thought I had lost it, but luckily, nature is wise and it was reborn from its roots.
Or the pleasure of sitting down to write in the yard, under the shade and freshness of the banana plants.
Or discovering the birth of a bunch of bananas (here in Tunas they call it “the guacamaya”, and no, they don’t mean the bird)
And so, little things like that but that fill me with joy 😁.
I love the idea of having a series of communities where you can read and/or write about everything you like or are interested in; where you can meet incredible people from all over the world.
I love it because it also makes me write daily, to think, to get back to the craft. And, if they also give me some votes and I get paid for it, even better 😆.
I really have never been so happy to win an honorable mention since I started writing and received some in the contests I participated in. It seems like I traveled back in time.
Another adventure is being a teacher. This is one of the jobs that I never thought I could do, because I respect it too much. However, it has brought me a lot of joy and recognition in these months of work.
The most recent adventure is this one, #hive or #ecency, whatever you want to call it.
It's nice to feel those joys.
I have led artistic spaces 🤭. I really never thought I could do this thing of standing up and speaking in front of an audience. However, here I am with my “Critical Monday” and I think I’m doing pretty well.
I have also learned languages and a new job: concert music programming.
This is a new world for me and at the same time, it is beautiful. I have learned about music, what I never thought I would learn and I have listened to several of the best groups and concert soloists in the country.

Although My favorite will always be the Sultasto Guitar Quartet, directed by my wife @elviguitarra, Elvira Skourtis.
In short, I have eaten, drunk, traveled and I have been and am very happy. There are many more things that have made me happy in recent times and others that have shaped me throughout my life.
Today, I will toast to you and to me.

Hoy cumplo 39 años (casi estoy en los cuarenta) y eso me puso a pensar en lo que he logrado, lo que no y en mis sueños por cumplir.
He cumplido mi sueño de ser escritor. Aún no he escrito lo que quisiera escribir ni todo lo que me gustaría, pero no creo ir mal. Hasta algo de reputación y reconocimiento nacional he formado.
Quizás debería concursar un poco más, pero de momento me siento feliz escribiendo.
He logrado crear y rodearme de una familia. Tengo una mujer hermosa a mi lado y a dos niños que los quiero como si fueran míos.
Para alguien que su familia constituía solo en dos personas, madre y tía, tener una familia propia de la que preocuparse y ocuparse, es un gran paso de avance.
Ahora mi familia es más grande y unida.
Tengo amigos.
En estos casi cuarenta años he aprendido que no es lo mismo socios, colegas que AMIGOS. He logrado rodearme de buenos amigos, de buenas personas. De esa gente hermosa que te alegra la vida y que están en las buenas y las malas.
Y no pongo fotos porque, para mi alegría, son varios y estoy vago para buscar imágenes junto a ellos.
Son mis amigos y es mi cumpleaños, me lo van a perdonar 😁.
HE CONOCIDO CASI TODO EL PAÍS.
Todo aquel que me conozca sabe que ese es uno de mis sueños desd que era un niño: conocer Cuba.
He estado en Pinar, Mayabeque, Artemisa, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, La Isla de la Juventud, Santa Clara, Camagüey, Las Tunas (claro está), Santiago de Cuba, Guantánamo, Granma y se puede decir que en Sancti Spiritus, porque he ido dos veces a Topes de Collantes, pero no a la ciudad de Sancti Spiritus.

Ah, y soy habanero, así que por eso no está en la lista.
Solo me queda por visitar Holguín y Ciego de Ávila, pero ya esta última está en planes para la Feria del Libro de marzo, asi que casi está tachada de la lista.
Pude llevar a los niños a La Habana a conocer a mi madre y que pasearan. Ellos son buenísimos y se lo merecen.
En verdad, se merecen más, pero poco a poco
Y sí, los niños ya tienen casi 14 y 16, pero siempre serán los niños 😊.
He aprendido a disfrutar de las pequeñas cosas de la vida, como, por ejemplo, el nacimiento (o renacimiento) de una planta de ciruela china que me regaló una de mis amigas @yuslenismolina
Esta planta tenía casi un metro de alto cuando el vecino, haciendo una limpieza en mi patio, la cortó por error. Creí haberla perdido, pero por suerte, la naturaleza es sabia y renació de su raíz.
O el placer de sentarme a escribir en el patio, bajo la sombra y el fresco de las plantas de plátano.
O descubrir el nacimiento de un racimo de plátano (aquí en Tunas le dicen “la guacamaya”, y no, no se refieren al ave)
Y así, cosas pequeñas como esas pero que me llenan de alegría 😁.
Me encanta la idea de tener una serie de comunidades donde leer y/o escribir de todo lo que te gusta o interesa; donde conocer a gente increíble de todas partes del mundo.
Me encanta porque, además, me hace escribir a diario, a pensar, a retomar el oficio. Y, si además, me regalan algunos votos y cobro por ello, mejor aún 😆.
De verdad que nunca me había alegrado tanto por ganar alguna mención honorífica desde que comencé a escribir y recibía alguna en los concursos en que participaba. Tal parece que viajé en el tiempo.
Otra aventura es la se ser profesor. Este es uno de los oficios que nunca creí poder ejercer, pues lo respeto demasiado. Sin embargo, me ha traído muchísimas alegrías y reconocimientos en estos meses de trabajo.
La aventura más reciente es esta, #hive o #ecency, como quieran llamarle.
Es lindo sentir esas alegrías.
He conducido espacios artísticos 🤭. De verdad que nunca creí poder hacer esto de pararme a hablar delante del público. Sin embargo, ahí estoy con mi “Lunes Crítico” y creo que me va bastante bien.
También he aprendido idiomas y un nuevo oficio: la de programación de la música de concierto.
Este es un mundo nuevo para mí y al mismo tiempo, es hermoso. He aprendido de música, lo que nunca creí que aprendería y he escuchado a varios de los mejores grupos y solistas concertistas del país.
Aunque mi favorito, siempre será el Cuarteto de Guitarras Sultasto, dirigido por mi mujer @elviguitarra, Elvira Skourtis.
En fin, he comido, bebido, viajado y he sido y soy muy feliz.
Hay muchas más cosas que me han hecho feliz en estos últimos tiempos y otras que me han ido formando durante mi vida.
Hoy, brindaré por ustedes y por mí.

Well, happy birthday to you! And congratulations on achieving so much, including achieving your dream, before you turned 40! Such a young age to be able to revel in all these accomplishments and feel happiness. I can only hope that I will be able to make the same claim before I turn 40 as well... but if not, there's still time. 40 is still young!
