In this post I share my experience trying my hand at resin printing again I mentioned I would not be messing around with it until I get my ventilation system sorted and I am nearly done everything has been printed I am just waiting on a duct pipe to come in to connect it all.
Well if that's the case why did I try it out, well I also bought some cheap filters for 20 bucks a pop, they are specially made for these types of printers so I put a cap on my enclosure to seal it with them inside and fired up the printer
Last time I had success but the supports caused issues when I took them off, So I tried another software to see if the supports will come out better.
I got the printer started and it seemed to be doing it's thing, my enclosure seemed to do the trick I could not smell a thing but I am not sure how effective the filters are or if I just trapped all the fumes inside.
Anyway a few minutes into it I get a notification that there is an unexpected error, I pull of my enclosure and I see some of the prints came off the build plate, I am new with resin printing so not sure what the deal is if the supports or setting are off or if its a bit of both.
Well I cleaned the plate and resin tank and tried again with the original software I had 2 relative successes with and this time around it managed to finish the print.
It came out pretty good some strange things like some discoloration on some parts, and I am not really sure what the scoop with that is being an armature I hid some items those are for another post 🤣
I washed and cured the parts with a uv light and then tried to remove the supports and I ran into similar issues with the challenger rounds the other 3 bits printed flat came out alright with the back being a bit rough do to the supports but it's not really a critical area and can be sanded down the face is the main part , the custom lynx shield came out very nice
The rounds as I said came out nice but when I started to break off the supports it got ruined, I still have a lot to learn and lots of experimentation
This is water wash resin and is supposed to be slightly less toxic I also got some high clarity resin but I will not be messing with that one until I get the duct pipe and can have the fumes blow outside, I saw some people getting some really nice results and I may be able to make some high quality custom capsules with good clarity.
