Yo guys, I hope we all have a great day
As usual, I write my regular weekly Splinterlands post, and through this post I would like to share how I perform in my last brawl.
Honestly last brawl was not a good one for my Guild, our guild sat on the sixth place. We were 108 points behind the fifth place, Summoner's Tribe. So it feels like a pain in the ass, we are too strong to be in the last spot because we have growth well improving ourselves in the last two months... however far from strong enough to compete with the top 5.
Personally I have done well enough in that brawl. I have won 2 from 7 brawl entries, which I believe that a good number regarding I entered the 24 Frays, The Diamond Gold Foil frays.
Technically I won all the battles that my opponents came not with the max level deck. Or in another words, I did not miss any good encounters. Only the biggest boys beat me on last brawls.
In this post I share my battle against @voazena. He is a good player, and I pick that battle because I win that one LoL... Well that's not the sole reason anyway, there is another point that I want to share, and you will find it below.
HIGHLIGHTED BATTLE
I came with Silver Level Cap and He came with Gold Level Cap. So he had better leveled up cards than me, however due to this was a Brawl on Diamond League, so I needed to win all the battles below max level deck. You do not think my casual limited selection can compete with Vugtis, Neoxian and other maniacs who collect max level Gold Foid, do you?
This battle was fun to watch because both of us represent two opposite meta. You can see my line up brings a super defensive meta. I have -2 range attack debuff, one from Quix the Devious and one more from Anachron Bolter's Headwinds ability.
My opponent came with an offensive mindset, he set his line up which all of the units were actively attacking my line up. Speed-wise their team was faster than mine.
However there was a single similarity between us, that was Venari Marksrat. It looked like both of us wanted to use Martyr to exploit the Equal Opportunity ruleset there. So without further a do, let see how this battle progresses.
- The battle started with both side buffing themselves and debubffing their opponent.
- They came with 6 range damage per round.
- My team had 7 range damage and 1 magic damage, so our team had a total 8 damage per round.
- My team was hitting harder, and their team was moving faster. So this should be interesting right?
- They lost their Herbalist in the first round. So much for the Triage holder. Now things looked even worse for them
- My team had activated the martyr effect, At this point My Anachron Bolter became an awesome 4 damage hitter.
- 4 vs 3, however it was not about the number of units. They could only deliver 2 damage per round and I had Venari Crystalsmith who actively healed 2 Naga Assassin health. So it's a locked down for them.
- Round 5 was the last. Good Game
It was a total wipe out for them, I only lost a martyr who was supposed to be killed as soon as possible. In general I could say they were not ready for this, they picked the wrong summoner due to having better level. However in Gold Foil brawl we could not say that, it's a risk we had known before.
Rather than blaming bad choice of summoner, there were several points we could discuss here:
- They did not focus on certain meta. My meta was simple, debuff 2 range damage because it's a battle of range unit only. They did not aim that, maybe due to that soulbound summoner who consumed bigger mana.
- Text book line up. He came with textbook approach, getting 6 units while my team having only 5 units. He put close range ability holder, Gargoya Devil, as their main tank. How about me? I put Naga Assassin as my main tank, I already took her as idle tank, and hoped she dodged some and delivered backfire damage.
So the main point here is that my opponent came with orthodox approach, too main stream, or too textbooked. It's common in Gold Foil Brawl, both side came with lack of perfection. No supporting summoner, lesser levels, limited selection, and many more. So unless you are Vugtis who has everything in his selection, you need to play out of the box most of the time.
Ok that's all for today, thank you so much for your visit here. See you on the next Brawl!!!

hey, thanks for pointing out - I forgot that my Helios Matriarch isn't max out! I could use my Quix the Devious but obviously I didn't pay attention to that( well if you have to do 3 brawls in less then an hour, this's the price you paid)
Well done btw
