Welcome to my weekly Splinterlands post, every weekend I make splinterlands posts here on HIVE as I play this splendid game mostly on weekend too. As for today topic, I share another view about Gladiator cards. Some say this is Gladiator, some say this is Gladius, so don't get confused if you find out that both are the same LoL.
In the past, Gladiator was very dangerous due to their Bloodlust ability. However starting from 2023, exactly in Chaos Legion edition, our developer introduced GLUM FLAMEBLADE, as the first non-gladiator card that has Bloodlust ability. Fast forward to this day, we see many non-gladiator cards that have Bloodlust ability too.. And Of course they are dangerous.
Through this post I want to share my view about this condition. I think that even many cards have Bloodlust ability, some gladiator cards are still standing on top as the most dangerous one. The Strongest? It's debatable, but more dangerous? I dare to say that.
Katrelba Gobson is one of my favorite Gladiator card, and in this post I will share you guys how she can be more lethal than GRUM FLAMEBLADE
HIGHLIGHTED BATTLE
I pick this battle for the first one. It is Katrelba Gobson vs Grum Flameblade as the condition I need for this post. There are similarities in our approach:
- We tried to exploit that Born Again ruleset with a martyr. The difference was that they only use one martyr and I used two martyr.
- We hid our Bloodlust ability unit in the backline, so they would not be killed first.
The different? My team was more like a one man show of Katrelba Gobson, and they team was more like a good team player one, everyone had their job to do.
Let see how this go
- The battle started with my team buffed our selves. Somehow my opponent did not have any debuff and buff, they relied on their brute strength.
- They came with 14 melee damage per round. Once their Grum Flameblade came forward, it would be a disaster.
- My team had 4 melee damage, 2 range damage and 4 magic damage, so our team had a total 10 damage per round.
- Their team hit harder so this would be hard for my team. let see which Katrelba would win this battle
- Well look at that. Their Grum Flameblade became ridiculously too strong. I should lose this battle right? The first round was an equal one but due to they have made their martyr died twice, it resulted in over powered Grum Flame Blade
- Second round was interesting too, both of our Bloodlust units made a kill. as predicted, their Grum flameblade became stronger again.
- Again in third round both of our bloodlust unit made a kill. My Katrelba Gobson and their Grum Flameblade became stronger however at this point the condition became 4 vs 3 with a unit advantage on their side.
- in The Fourth round, we still had the same scenario. Grum Flameblade and Katrelba Gobson kept killing a unit in every round.
- Finally on the 6th round, we had the final show down. Grum Flameblade vs Katrelba Gobson but not in pure duel, there was Uraeus behind who kept stealing a punch in, however his attacks never landed on target due to massive speed difference.
- In round 7 finally I could take down their Grum Flameblad. But how did she pull it out in 2 vs 1 condition?
- It was easy, as I have said above, Uraeus kept missing its attack due to massive speed gap.
- Finally round 9 was the last one. It was an intense battle but Katrelba Gobson came out as the winner.
STRONGER DOESN'T GUARANTEE A WIN
This battle was about a battle between these two, the first non gladiator card who has the bloodlust ability, against a gladiator card. Of course I picked Katrelba Gobson over Quora Towershead because she was more suitable to the ruleset.
After several kills, both of them met in the frontline with the stats above. Frankly speaking, I still believe Grum Flameblade was stronger at that point due to he represented a better tank built. In general I believed most people would pick his overbuilt stats for the tank role.
The victor was Katrelba Gobson. Was she stronger? Well I prefer to say that she was more dangerous. Some unit works like that, with proper support (in this battle I got four times for martyr buffs), and several opportunties in killing more target due to double strike ability, she outgrew her limit and became comparable to Grum Flameblade.
Back to this post topic, I believe most of us here although have favorite bloodlust ability unit, we still see it is as Gladiator trademark ability and they still have a slightly intangible advantage from it. Even we pick another element, let say life element where we all love Jared Scar, Captain Katie still the one we love more even both of them are bloodlust holder.
I am not saying they are a bit weaker. Jared Scar and Grum Flameblade are way stronger than most units, and some units are stronger than Gladiator cards, however still... I belive most of us will prefer Gladiator cards for the bloodlust rather than trying to exploit bloodlust from mainstream set.
Currently these four are the units who can have bloodlust ability however I do not think they can be as effective as Gladiator cards. We never know what development we will get in future, we might get some new cards with bloodlust that are stronger... but for this time being, I think it is right to say Gladiator cards are still more dengerous than those four.
