Every Day, Running Through Red Lights

Red lights are just a suggestion, aren't they?

Wait, you're telling me they're NOT?

Well, if we're going by the corner where my apartment building barely stands on its weak foundation, I would think that the red light is, indeed, simply a suggestion that can be freely followed - or not - based on how a person feels that day.

Nearly every single that I pass through that intersection, no matter what time of day, I see someone running a red light. That intersection has been the source of numerous accidents, including some which resulted in deaths, over the past few years.

Naturally, I'm very vigilant when I cross that intersection, and rarely even start walking when my light says walk - and that has, indeed, saved me more than once because of total reckless, selfish morons with no care for anyone but themselves.

Why does our local government not install a simple camera there at that intersection? They would catch so many people and actually save a life here and there. It's not that expensive to set this up, and would certainly bring in a good amount of revenue.

This is just a failure on all levels. Sometimes, humanity just disappoints me beyond redemption.
