The wood carvings in the photos were placed in a park I was passing by at the end of last August.
It was not forgotten and probably abandoned, but I could not pass by it. I couldn't pass by, because a typhoon was approaching that day, and if I had left it unattended, the wood carving would have been ruined by the wind and rain.
The wood carvings of Daikokuten and Ebisuten, two of the most precious Japanese deities, were missing Ebisuten's fishing rod, which was supposed to be there. Perhaps it had been lost or broken... maybe that was why the original owner had abandoned them.
In case there was a possibility that they had been forgotten, I delivered this set to the police station. I carried them on the front basket of my bicycle, but it was very heavy. When I went through the procedures at the police station, I signed a document stating that I would claim ownership if the lost owner did not show up within a certain period of time. This means that I could claim ownership of the wood carving if three months passed without the owner showing up from the date I reported it to the police station.
However, I did not get the carving after all. Because I lost the copy of the document 😅I had to contact the police station between the end of November and the end of January, but the copy was never found and the deadline passed. I guess I threw it away by mistake. It's a shame.

写真の木彫りは昨年の8月の終わりに、通り掛かりの公園に放置されていたものです。忘れもの・・・とかではなく、おそらく棄ててあったのだと思いますが、私は素通りすることができませんでした。というのも、この日はちょうど台風が接近していて、放っておいたらこの木彫りは雨風に晒されてダメになってしまっていたでしょうから。
大黒様と恵比寿様という何ともありがたいセットでしたが、本来あるはずの恵比寿様の釣り竿が欠けていました。失くしてしまったのか、壊れてしまったのか・・・元の持ち主はそれでこの木彫りを棄てたのかもしれません。
万が一、忘れ物だった可能性を考えて、私はこの木彫りセットを交番に届けました。自転車の前かごに乗せて運びましたが、めちゃくちゃ重かったです。交番で手続きをした際、一定期間に落とし主が現れなかった場合に所有権を主張する内容で書類にサインしました。届け出の日から落とし主が現れないまま3ヶ月が経過した場合、私がこの木彫りをもらえる、ということです。
ですが、結局私はこの木彫りを手に入れることはできませんでした。というのも、書類の控えをなくしてしまったから😅受取期間は2ヶ月間で、11月末から1月末までの間に警察署に連絡をしなければならなかったのですが、控えは見つからないまま期限を過ぎてしまいました。間違って棄ててしまったのかな。残念です。

Somehow, I felt destined for this wood carving, but the fact that I lost my receipt for it must mean that I had no connection with it.

It's a shame you lost the receipt. Maybe get a smaller statue, there are some made of crystal, marble or jade.

Yes, in fact, this wood carving was quite large and I might have had trouble finding a place to put it if I had gotten it.
I didn't get it as well but the carving is amazingly done.
