I saw something interesting on Quora and I thought to share it on hive.
A woman wrote on a piece of paper to see what her husband's reaction would be. "I'm leaving, I'm not coming back." Leaving the paper on the table, the woman hid under the bed and waited for her husband. He saw the paper, read it, and wrote something on it. Then he began to sing happily. After 5 minutes he picked up his cell phone and called someone. "I'm coming now. Crazy Maragat is gone. The problems are over, I love you so much." He then took the car and left. The woman, maddened with anger and grief, came out and read what he had written... “I see your legs. I will bring bread. Don't go crazy and make something for dinner."
My thoughts:
Well, if this isn't a painfully honest glimpse into human nature. The wife, clearly testing her husband, got a result she never expected.
I see how often people do these set up tests for their partners, believing they know the outcome, only to be confronted with something they can't quite handle.
Have you watched those relationship tests on TikTok and YouTube?
Here, she clearly wanted proof of her importance, maybe a sign that she still mattered to him, but what she got was a reality check.
If you're playing these kinds of games, it already says something about the relationship.
His reaction is a mix of callousness and humor.
First, the singing, then the carefree phone call, it's just cruel. But then there’s the note, and while it’s tempting to see it as him covering his tracks, there’s a thread of absurdity in the whole thing that almost feels like an attempt to lighten the situation. It’s like he knew she’d be there all along.
Either way, they’ve both ended up playing a strange game of hide-and-seek with their emotions, with neither getting what they wanted.
The moment we start testing our relationships like this, we’re bound to uncover truths we aren’t ready for. If you need to know how much someone cares by setting traps, you're not in a relationship built on trust or mutual respect.
Instead, you're holding onto an illusion, and illusions shatter easily.
What are your thoughts?
