One day Youssef was coming back from school carrying his bag on his back and walking along the sidewalk The weather was a bit hot and the streets were crowded with people and cars but he was lost in thought about many things until he heard a weak meow meow sound coming from under a parked car.
Youssef stopped and looked under the car He found a little cat sitting alone She looked tired and didnt find anyone to care for her Her eyes were full of fear and her body was weak as if she hadn't eaten for days Youssef sat on his knee and carefully extended his hand but the cat was scared and backed away.
He looked around and saw that no one cared about her so he decided to help her He took out his bag and took out a sandwich he had left from recess He opened it and put some cheese on the ground in front of her The cat was hesitant at first but after a while she approached and smelled the food and then she started eating with appetite as if she couldn't believe she found food.
Youssef smiled and said to her in a calm voice Okay clever girl dont be afraid no one will hurt you After she finished eating he approached her again and extended his hand and this time she approached herself and stroked her head with his fingers He felt then that she had become confident in him.
He couldnt leave her alone in the street so he thought quickly He found a small cardboard box next to a nearby store took it and put her in it gently and then decided to take her home with him On the way he felt strangely happy as if the cat thanked him with her eyes.
When he arrived home he told his family about the cat and how he found her and asked them to let her live with them At first they were hesitant but when they saw how small and weak she was they agreed on the condition that he take care of her clean her and feed her well.
From that day on the cat became part of the family She would run around the house and play with Youssef and when he came back from school she would wait for him at the door as if to say I miss you Youssef felt that the day he decided to help her was one of the best days of his life because he understood that mercy is a small thing that can change an entire life.
