A brave mountaineer called Layo Aguilar told the amazing tale of saving Canelo, a stray dog that had reached the top of Pico de Orizaba, commonly known as Citlaltépetl, Mexico's highest peak, in November 2021.
Together, Layo and his Mexican Alpine Club friends managed to save Canelo and transport him to safety. Layo sought assistance from Citla, the Angel of the Mountain, during the ascent. When he resided on the volcano, Citla, a mixed-breed dog, helped climbers who were lost or in danger by guiding and saving them.
With Citla's spiritual assistance, Layo discovered Canelo at the summit, looking scared, hungry, and fatigued. They fed him and gave him water before they began the descent.
Aarón, one of the climbers, offered to keep it in his bag for the duration of the journey back.
Everyone reached the shelter safely after a difficult trip through snow, solidified sand, and other challenges. Canelo now enjoys a happy life with a family that takes care of him every day because to these heroes.
