Stomach Upset: The Unwelcome Twist In My Day.

in FreeCompliments23 hours ago

If someone had told me the previous night or even this morning that I would end up feeling sick today, I wouldn't have taken it seriously. How would I have, when there were no telltale signs or symptoms of any ailment in me? I woke up feeling strong and in high spirits, exuding positivity. I prepared and went to work, hoping for a smooth day, but little did I know that fate had other plans for me, and the day would take an unexpected turn.

As I sat at my desk around past 11am, getting papers ready for my departmental meeting scheduled for 12:00noon, I felt a severe pain in my stomach, right at the navel. It was as if my nerves were trying to pull my navel away from my stomach. Accompanying the pain were rumblings in my stomach, signaling the urge to use the restroom. I immediately rushed to the restroom, hoping to offload whatever it was that was causing the disturbance, however, I only ended up urinating, with no other relief.

I couldn't recall eating anything that might have triggered the stomach upset, and I was confused about what was happening. To make matters more uncertain, the rumbling and the pain in my navel area had me wondering if I've caught a stomach bug or maybe it's ulcer symptom rearing it's ugly head again - after all, stomach pain around the navel can be signs of an ulcer. Yet, I hadn't been experiencing any unusual stress or irregular eating habits, which made the possibility seem unlikely.

So, I was hesitant to take any antacid until I was sure of what I was dealing with. Instead, I opted to drink plenty of water. You know water is a powerful healer. Some ailments can be cured by just water therapy. For instance, a good dose of water, a cold shower, and rest are the best remedy for a slight headache. Some headaches are triggered by stress, and surprisingly, drinking enough water or taking a cold shower can provide relief. In such cases, painkillers might not be the best solution.

Time for the meeting arrived, and I managed to attend, but unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy the snacks and drinks served afterward.

The smell of anything food was unsettling, and I couldn't even eat my lunch. My lunch pack was just there looking at me, wondering why I hadn't touched it. 😅
All I could think about was finding relief from the pain. Fortunately, I had a Greek sweetened yoghurt drink with me, which has always been calming for my stomach.

I tried taking a nap, but that didn't help. I decided to head home since I couldn't focus on work, and to make matters worse, I was feeling nauseous. As soon as I got home, I took a cold shower and ended up throwing up the stomach bug. What a relief! That was a close call 😅.

Afterwards, I prepared a special natural remedy, that I'd recommend anytime - a drink made from a plant I have in my backyard - "Miracle leaf - Kalanchoe pinnata" I boiled the leaves, added two drops of honey, and drank it, warm.

This drink has always worked wonders for my stomach, and I'm hoping it will do the same this time.

After taking the miracle drink, I slept. When I woke up, I felt better and hungry. I opted for a light meal - a small portion of pap and fried prawn crackers. I didn't want to eat too much, so I was careful. Now it's night, and I hope that by tomorrow morning, the whole ordeal would be behind me, and I'll be fine again.
