Pronunciar el nombre Tyto Alba, para muchos, significa una expresión de extrañeza, pero si digo lechuza, entonces si se darán por enterados.
La lechuza de campanario como se le conoce comúnmente, es un ave rapaz y circulan en torno a ella mitos que la demonizan.
Si bien en Egipto es símbolo de oscuridad, frío, muerte y en México de mal augurio, en Cuba, generalmente se dice que anuncia una muerte cercana, sin embargo, su función reguladora del ecosistema, como agente contra la expansión de roedores esta muy lejos de esas supersticiones.
La intencionalidad de mi publicación, no es ni el oscurantismo ni una disertación de biología, es mostrarles esos simpáticos seres con una visión diferente.
Tengo dos amigas poetisas que adoran estas aves, Yuraima Trujillo y Yuselys Troche. La imagen anterior fue creada por Yura para obsequiármela y como a su autora, el amor le brota por sus ojos expresivos, con Yuse, la historia está invertida.
Los japoneses atribuyen a sus amigurumis, la propiedad de “Amuletos de la buena suerte” y como es lo que deseo a mis invitados a la peña “LETRAS SIN BARRERAS” decidí crear souvenirs con esa técnica de artesanía a crochet y darlos al asistente de cada peña. Cuando tocó a Yuselys Troche, el amigurumi no podía ser otra cosa que una lechuza, el problema era que nunca las había tejido.
Primeramente, escogí los colores e imaginé cómo quería que fuera, mil formas cruzaron por mi mente antes de iniciar la creación, lo que siempre estuvo claro fue su complexión regordeta y sus enormes ojos.
Ya el amiurumi estaba asumiendo una identidad.
Estos muñecos tienen la característica que son únicos en cada creación porque, aunque se pueda seguir paso a paso un patrón nunca uno es exacto a otro por su confección 100 % manual.
Una vez terminado el cuerpo del muñe, solo restaba poner mi toque personal, colocar algunos detalles que le dieran mayor belleza.
Asi apareció las puntadas que formaron el pico y algunas cuentas de colores insertadas con argollitas de metal para dar volumen. El punto final, agregar un herraje de llavero de donde colgaría todo lo creado y le puse por añadidura un carácter utilitario.
¡Ya estaba el producto, la pieza terminada! Solo esperábamos la lechuza y yo por la reacción de su dueña.
Llegó el día del espacio literario y la sección donde realizo la entrega, como presente.
No puedo describir el placer que experimento cuando veo el agrado con que lo reciben, esta vez la poeta y doctora, Yuselys Troche Nerey, especialista en microbiología me regaló tal sonrisa, que fui yo como artista y amiga quien se llevó el premio mayor, desde entonces el pequeño “Amiurumi de la Buena Suerte” de ella, tiene forma de lechuza, que no anuncia la muerte si no la vida, porque es a lo que contribuye esta inteligente y dedicada doctora, desde los laboratorios del Hospital Materno Provincial de Camagüey. Y esa mirada infinita de la lechuza, pienso, debe ser de futuro.

Pronouncing the name Tyto Alba means an expression of strangeness for many, but if I say "owl," then they will understand. The barn owl, as it is commonly known, is a bird of prey surrounded by myths that demonize it.
While in Egypt it symbolizes darkness, cold, and death, and in Mexico it is seen as an omen of bad luck, in Cuba it is generally said to announce an impending death. However, its regulatory function in the ecosystem, as an agent against the expansion of rodents, is far removed from these superstitions. The intent of my post is neither obscurantism nor a dissertation on biology; it is to show you these charming beings from a different perspective.
I have two poet friends who adore these birds: Yuraima Trujillo and Yuselys Troche. The previous image was created by Yura as a gift for me, and like its author, love shines through her expressive eyes. With Yuse, the story is reversed.
The Japanese attribute to their amigurumis the property of being "amulets of good luck," and since this is what I wish for my guests at the gathering "LETTERS WITHOUT BARRIERS," I decided to create souvenirs using that crochet craft technique and give them to each attendee. When it was Yuselys Troche's turn, the amigurumi could be nothing other than an owl; the problem was that I had never knitted one before.
First, I chose the colors and imagined how I wanted it to look. A thousand forms crossed my mind before starting the creation; what was always clear was its chubby build and huge eyes.
The amigurumi was already taking on an identity. These dolls have the characteristic of being unique in each creation because, although one can follow a pattern step by step, no two are exactly alike due to their 100% handmade construction.
Once the body of the doll was finished, all that remained was to add my personal touch by putting some details that would enhance its beauty.
Thus appeared the stitches that formed the beak and some colored beads inserted with metal rings to give volume. The final touch was adding a keychain hardware from which everything created would hang, giving it a utilitarian character.
The product was ready; the finished piece! The owl and I were just waiting for its owner’s reaction.
The day of the literary space arrived along with the section where I present it as a gift. I cannot describe the pleasure I experience when I see how pleased they are to receive it. This time, poet and doctor Yuselys Troche Nerey, a specialist in microbiology, gave me such a smile that I felt like the artist and friend who won the grand prize. Since then, her little “Good Luck Amigurumi” has taken the form of an owl that does not announce death but life because this intelligent and dedicated doctor contributes to life from her laboratory work at Camagüey Provincial Maternal Hospital. And that infinite look of the owl, I think, must be one of future.
