I started a YouTube channel to see if it's easy to gain some following. I didn't tell my friends or family, maybe 3 friends who like some weird stuff at most I told them about my channel. I don't post it on my FB but I post it here and TwitterX. Oh, yeah I do post it on FB but ony alternate account where none of my real account fb friends are.
So far I've gotten 37 subscribers. It's a hard life ahaha.
I have posted 15 not YT shorts videos, and 4 shorts videos.
Somehow when I started posting shorts and used AI rendering apps, I'm suddenly getting some views. One has garnered 522 views, the others are less than 60.
Anyway I enjoy doing those stories, so doesn't matter even if this little experiment doesn't get to monetization stage.
My experiment is just to make it grow organically. So far YouTube shorts are more effective. People think more than a minute is a long video already.
Wish me luck 🤞
Oops, I have not mentioned the channel, Its The Black Theater with handle @metapizix.
I think it's really hard work to build up a YouTube account from scratch these days. But that probably also applies to all other networks.
From what I hear, just as you described, shorts get the most views or subscribers. I find that a bit strange because I hardly ever consume them on YouTube. 😂
As long as you're having fun, keep it up. I wish you every success!
The requirement for shorts to monetize is like 10m views versus 1000 watch hours. So either my shorts reach 10m views or my non shorts reach 1000 hours that's when I get monetized.
But my guess is I think the key is the tags you put because you'll be suggested by YouTube itself on related searches.
I don't watch shorts too before but I think it's true you have to capture the attention of peeps in the first minute. But now I'm doing shorts I somehow can whip up stories in under one minute
