🎚 CENTRAL TRUTH:
Until you change your mind-set, there is a height you can't attain.
📖 BIBLE TEXT:
Judges 8:11-21
🔑 KEY VERSE:
"So they answered, as you are, so were they, each one resembled the son of a King" (Judges 8:18, NKJV)
🖊️ COMMENTARY
An angel visited Gideon and told him he was to go out and save the Israelites from being invaded by another army.
Gideon responded that he couldn't because he came from a poor background, he was the least in his father's house. He was not good enough, he said. Oh, how it is that he could not realize that he was royalty. Later, Gideon asked his defeated enemies to describe the people they saw when he inquired about certain people he was looking for. Their answer was amazing, "As you are, so were they, each one resembled the son of a King." Gideon had felt he wasn't good enough. But his enemies could see his royalty.
Our text today is in synergy with Romans chapter 8: 14-15, as we are drawn into the closest and most intimate personal relationship with God, we have in us an identity, a status, a position, and a relationship in and with God. So, as children of God, we shouldn't be living under any form of "slavery mentality," but we should have the mentality of a son and enjoy the love and the experience that we have in our fellowship with Him.
The Apostle Peter gave us a more profound description of who we are, as stated in 1Peter 2:9. When we accept Jesus as the Lord and Savior and begin to walk in the Spirit, we become His sons. Having this new life, we must live in all humility with the consciousness of who we are in Him. You are a chosen generation, a royal Priesthood, a peculiar personality. If you know who your Father is, you won't have to feel that you are not measuring up. With this understanding, your days of low self-esteem, negative feelings and self-condemnation are over. May your eyes be open to see who you are in Christ.
🙏🏿 PRAYER
Father! Thank you for making me your son. I will live out my royal heritage. In Jesus Name, Amen.
