It's automatic, I sent them off and they will build up curations periodically as you stack up more and more. If you want to see how many you have just use this call !sbi status

It will then send you a response of how many units you have and expected up votes

There you go! As you build up more and more the up votes go to daily and start climbing in value. One year ago I had 11 HSBI, then I started to do giveaways in the form of re-blog lotteries for about six months. Now I'm down to the weekly giveaway and sponsoring events. Every unit you sponsor gives you the matching amount in your account. So helping out someone else helps you in return!

It seems to me that the HSBI is not trade-able. I am unable to buy more of those.

To get more you need to sponsor another member, any member. You send one Hive or more to @steembasicincome and in the memo put the name of the person you want to sponsor. That person gets one unit (or more if you send more) and you get a matching number of units in your account.

They are non exchangeable and stay with your account. If you ever chose to change your main account you can contact them and they can transfer them to the new one.
