Hello, Splinterlands warriors! Welcome back to this week's social media challenge. How was your New Year? Do you have any battle-related resolutions for the year? I hope your card collections are growing stronger, and your strategies sharper with every battle!
As always, there’s an adrenaline rush every time I sit in front of the screen and see my opponent’s lineup in Splinterlands. This time, the battle unfolded with the Deflection Field and Lost Legendaries rulesets. Legendary monsters were off-limits, and every attack risked reflecting damage back to the attacker. The mana cap was set at 43, and I decided to play with the water element.
The moment I saw my opponent using PEMBROOK NYMPH as their summoner, I knew this was going to be a tough challenge. Their lineup featured a balanced mix of melee, ranged, and magic attacks with cards like DIEMONSHARK, DEEPLURKER, and ITSGALD VORST presenting significant threats from all angles.
On my side, I chose QUIX THE DEVIOUS as the summoner. My team was led by COMMANDER SLADE at the frontline, supported by DISINTEGRATOR, DEEPLURKER, RIVERBOAT CAPTAIN, URAEUS, and SWAMP SPITTER. My strategy focused on debuffing the opponent and relying on dodge abilities to avoid fatal blows.
Round 1: A Tense Start
As expected, buffs and debuffs activated right at the start. COMMANDER SLADE weakened DIEMONSHARK’s melee attacks, which was a huge advantage in absorbing the initial pressure.
However, the opponent retaliated aggressively. My DEEPLURKER quickly eliminated TIDE BITER in one swift strike, but this left my position vulnerable. ITSGALD VORST nearly took out URAEUS in this round, and a follow-up attack from the opponent's DEEPLURKER sealed its fate.
The highlight here was COMMANDER SLADE, who dodged two consecutive attacks, giving me some breathing room.
Round 2: A Deadly Counterattack
I began to lose control in this round. ITSGALD VORST eliminated RIVERBOAT CAPTAIN, while SWAMP SPITTER worked tirelessly to heal COMMANDER SLADE, who was under relentless assault.
My DISINTEGRATOR became an easy target and couldn’t contribute much apart from its permanent melee debuff.
Round 3: Cracks in the Armor
This was the turning point. My DEEPLURKER capitalized on DIEMONSHARK’s weakening armor and took it down. The fall of DIEMONSHARK was a critical moment, leaving the opponent without their main tank.
Even so, ITSGALD VORST kept up the pressure, leaving DISINTEGRATOR on the brink of defeat. Meanwhile, COMMANDER SLADE dodged yet another crucial attack.
Round 4: The Battle Intensifies
At this point, my DEEPLURKER took center stage, eliminating the opponent’s DEEPLURKER. However, the opponent’s SEA STALKER responded by taking out my SWAMP SPITTER. It was now a showdown between the core monsters, all hanging by a thread.
Round 5: The Dodge Miracle
This round belonged to COMMANDER SLADE. He dodged every attack thrown his way, buying time for DEEPLURKER to deal significant damage to ITSGALD VORST, further tilting the match in my favor.
Round 6: A Thrilling Conclusion
The poison from the ruleset finally did its job. ITSGALD VORST was taken out, leaving the opponent with SWAMP SPITTER and SEA STALKER against my COMMANDER SLADE and DEEPLURKER. The combination of close-range attacks and the final buffs ensured a decisive victory in this round.

Conclusion
This battle demonstrated the importance of weakening the opponent while dodging critical attacks. COMMANDER SLADE was the MVP, allowing my team to survive longer with his debuffs and dodge abilities.
What surprised me most was the effectiveness of DEEPLURKER as a primary attacker. This card single-handedly eliminated three enemy monsters, proving that precise, swift strikes can turn the tide of battle.
The biggest lesson from this match was the importance of balancing offense and defense. Choosing a card like SWAMP SPITTER to play a supportive role was crucial, especially in a prolonged battle like this.
Overall, this victory felt incredibly satisfying, as it was achieved through careful calculation and a touch of luck in key moments.
What about you? Have you ever faced a similarly challenging battle? Or perhaps you have unique strategies with COMMANDER SLADE? See you in the arena, and may you always get the best rewards! 🎯
