To be honest, I wasn't really interested when the news about Genesis League was announced because I didn't really care about sports that much. But when they pitched about a third project called Arcade Colony, it caught my attention. Allowing mainstream games to add web3 features to their projects has a huge potential especially now that we are nearing another bullish cycle.
And like all blockchain projects, investors who are curious about a particular one would first inspect the tokenomics surrounding it. And with Arcade Colony, its primary token is COLONY. If we look into the whitepaper, we can see that COLONY has a maximum supply of 21 billion tokens, which is 100x larger than Bitcoin's own supply. I think this is necessary as the tokens will be utilized as game rewards. So far, we have two games in development for Arcade Colony, Moonkarts and StakeHouse Den. And there are more games and potential partnerships to be expected in the future so it will need a high token supply.
And aside from the play-to-earn rewards, there are more ways to acquire the COLONY tokens. A billion has already been allocated for the fork and airdrop reward for SPS and GLX stakers. It would last for five years. Tokens will also be distributed to various liquidity provider pairings as well as to the validator node holders.
Decentralized Autonomous Organization
And because Arcade Colony is closely related to Splinterlands, they brought in a revolutionary concept to Arcade Colony as well, and that is the DAO. This gives the community a strong voice in some aspects of the project as well as having a significant fund that they can choose where to allocate. Empowering the community strengthen the ties between players and developers. The concept of a DAO has been very successful in Splinterlands and I hope Arcade Colony can replicate it as well.
Future Potential
With a current value of $0.00067 and a marketcap of $670,000, COLONY is probably one of the most undervalued tokens in Hive at the moment. Now that Hive is gaining popularity and the market getting bullish, outside investors might look into projects in the Hive ecosystem. And while the biggest project of Hive is Splinterlands, Arcade Colony may be considered a runner-up.
The best thing about Arcade Colony for me is that it can have potential partnerships. Those web2 projects that they reel into the cryptospace will carry the community behind it as well. And each new partnership will bring in new people. There are lots of possibilities with Arcade Colony and the catalyst may just be around the corner.
For sure, one of the most undervalued projects and i think it can reach big highs with the stake house den idea and also the betting game they have for GLX that they want to do a version for colony! :)
