I got so busy this week that I almost gave up on creating artwork, but since I wanted to work on this small goal of drawing something at least once a week, I tried making one tonight. Good thing my student changed his class from tomorrow morning to the afternoon today! I could wake up later than usual tomorrow. This is my entry for The FreeCompliments Weekly Art Contest.
To further test my patience in drawing, I decided to make a doodle art using my black gel pen and A5 graph pad this time... I did this while playing some True Crime stories on YouTube. hahaha It was fun... multitasking is great! lol
As usual, let me share some progress shots I took as I doodled my way through this artwork. XD
I started with a pencil sketch of the main subject. It's pretty simple and I decided to just work on the patterns directly using my gel pen to save more time and effort.
I didn't really do much with the head part because I was afraid it wouldn't look like an owl if I overdid with the doodling. I just gave it cute blushy cheeks. XD
The main subject is complete... except for the empty spaces where I'd doodle some patterns.
I started with the background. I mostly just used lines and shapes, but I tried to make the design as symmetrical as possible. It isn't perfect, but it's kind of cute. Don't you think so? :)
Then, I worked on the owl's body. I really like curved and flowy patterns when doodling. It's so satisfying to make and watch afterward. I also added some dots and hearts on the empty squares in the background. Dots are the easiest to make, so you could see lots of them on my doodle. XD
Finally, I added my username, signature, and the date today on one of the owl's ears. It took me almost three hours to finish this one! My patience in drawing has leveled up! It was enjoyable and satisfying, but my wrist is kind of painful now. haha Anyway, I like the result. It's not bad for someone lazy like me. Haha

Almost 3 hours... Super ngalay since I'm not used to it, but it's a good test of patience and it was relaxing to make.. thank youuuu!! 🥰😎✨
