Women Wednesdays: Truly the Best MOM <3

in FreeCompliments9 days ago

For FreeCompliments Community's Women Wednesdays, I'd like to talk and compliment my mom...

She's indeed, my happy place!

I'm an only child... though it wasn't by choice at first. When I was around six or seven years old, my family wanted to have a new member. I was excited to have either a baby brother or sister. Unfortunately, it didn't happen.

Since I was a sickly child, my mom decided to take contraceptive pills. She didn't want her next baby to suffer the same. There were some years when the hospital became my home. Luckily, I got better as I got older. However, the pills she took somehow affected her body. In addition, it's unsafe for her to get pregnant again, so we decided to give up on it.

My mom was strict when I was much younger, especially regarding my school grades. However, she wasn't close-minded. She accepted my ideas and even the deals I proposed to her. I remember when I was around third grade in elementary school, I proposed a deal with her.

I was so into watching anime at that time and we had a deal that I was only allowed to watch TV after doing all my homework and studying. However, this deal won't allow me to watch the programs that I want because of the time conflict. So, I asked her to give me one "grading" (the school year is divided into four "gradings" ) to do whatever I wanted. If my grades plunged, I'd give up on anime, but if I'd maintain my grades, she'd allow me to manage my studies. Luckily, she agreed!

Not only was I able to maintain my grades, but they even improved... because of this change, she trusted me with the way I handled my studies. She was no longer as strict, but she still guided me. She was so supportive. I remember when I joined various competitions (speech, storytelling, declamation, etc) at school, she was always there to help me and even train me. She is my mentor and my guide.

When I was in my teenage years, I wasn't scared of telling my mom my thoughts and feelings. She's understanding and knows how to listen, so I don't hesitate to tell her anything. She's my confidant and my best friend! She doesn't force me to tell her anything, but I personally share my stories with her... though some I kept until a much later date. lol Things like having a failing grade during my midterms in university because I got addicted to online gaming... but hey! I did well during the finals and passed! haha She just knew about the reason a few years back when my male bestie and I talked about gaming during our university days. xD

Now that I'm much older (I'm turning 34 this March)... I still live with my parents and I enjoy doing so. I work from home and I help support the family... my mom always prepares delicious and nutritious meals for us. She's a great cook! I don't feel like eating out since the food at home is better. haha

Ohh, she's also in HIVE... You can check her recipes on her page @arashi0416 ...

My mom is still my best friend and my confidant... I'll forever be grateful for that! Now, like me, she's into anime. She went inside my world and enjoyed it with me. She's willing to explore the things I enjoy to understand me better. That's something I really like about her. She doesn't judge... she tries to understand and accept things as long as they wouldn't do me harm.

I'm so lucky to have her... of course, I'm lucky to have my father and our two furbabies, too!
Thanks for being such an amazing mom, mama @arashi0416 !!! I love you! Stay awesome! <3

I am really out of words after reading your post. I am really, really deeply touched. You know how much I love you and you know how proud and grateful we are of you. I should be the one to thank you from the bottom of my heart. We are so blessed having you as our daughter. I love you so much ❤❤❤

Ayiiieee... lablab~~~ 😍😍😍
hahaha... xDD

This is a beautiful tribute to your great Mom who cares for and loves you so much. And it's awesome that she's on Hive too so she's able to read this 😍

Thank you... she has read it and even commented.

Awww... I also experienced that as a kid but my mom had a miscarriage. 💔 It's a sad moment when it happens. And yours is similarly sad because of the contraceptive and it's effects. This is one reason why the church is against any form of contraceptives. Anyway I'm glad you have a wonderful family despite being an only child. God is good! ❤️🙏

I'm sorry to hear that... and yes, I had a happy childhood, so it's all good! Thanks for dropping by! :) God bless us all! ^^
