I've heard good stuff about it as well. I was playing blackjack at the Venetian and they would keep bringing out more Maccallan. I think they figure the drunker you are the stupider you'll bet! The most amazing thing I've ever drank was The Maccallan 25 years old, there's no way to put how amazing it was in words. I wasn't paying thank god since it was 200 bucks a shot, and a bottle runs $3K!
I might try out The Arie if I can make it March to the silvergoldstackers meetup, Wynn is really nice too!
If you want to try out some really good affordable scotch, my favorite is Oban 14, it's about eighty a bottle but is really good! Then again I love Booker's bourbon buy it's hard to find these days.
I almost had a bottle of Booker's in my hand at the Jim Beam Distillery. I went with a distillers special though. $80 is right around my max. I don't usually spend more than that. I went to a Whiskey Room in Burlington that had some pours that were in the $500 range. I'll be writing a post about it at some point in the future.
$80 is about my max too. I don't like spending more than that that unless it's a special occasion. I did buy a bottle of Johnnie Walker blue once for a party, it was pretty damn good!
I've never had any of the Walkers as far as I know. I really need to try them sometime. I've never had anything super peaty either. I really need to expand my Scotch pallet.
I'm not a peat lover, I don't mind a little peat but a lot just isn't for me. I prefer a more smoky flavor.
Gotcha. I'm still working my way through all the bourbons I want to try. I just got one on our recent trip from a small place in Vermont. It's pretty fantastic.
