Hello my dear Hiveans of the night!
Here I am with another round of the Vibes competition. This week the theme is the '90s and I thought a Depeche Mode song would really fit into my style for this entry.
I already play Precious - another beautiful Depeche Mode song - in my live set but I wanted to try make my own version of Personal Jesus too, also because it's more known.
This production is totally made by me from scratch. Every instrument and sound that you hear is created and recorded by me. The main vocal part is recorded live as you see in the video, no editing done on that to maintain the live feeling.

I think I'm into that vibe as well. I Picked smashing pumpkins for this week! Bullet with butterfly wings. Not as electronic bit kinda dark never the less jajaj
This is very smooth and funky. I always felt there's something quite hopeless both about the original and the Johnny Cash version, but this one's kinda party-ish in a weird way. I love it!

Nice one. It is a cool song and I like your interpretation of it. Do you do the synths and drums on a computer (rather than hardware)? Your arrangements are great.

It's all made inside my daw with plugins. For drums I'm using this new digital drum machine called XO from XLN Audio that is so convenient! It finds all the sample you saved in your computer and sort them based on similarity. It easily opens a lot of variety and creativity in my drum arrangements.
Synths are mostly made with a free synthesizer plugin called Vital. I usually go through the presets, find something that fits with the song and tweak it to get what I want
Cool. I really have not got into that stuff apart from some basic drum programming. It is something I would like to learn more about when I have the time. For now I'm more into playing the drums myself.
I'm fascinated how in the industrial genre, electronic drums can be as strong and pumped as in metal, and that's exactly the direction I wanna go
