Welcome friends.
The Vibes community took us back to the 90s, which made me remember some good old songs. I would have submitted my entry before today but I didn't have the time and right state to edit and create a blog post to pass a message and I hope you read this and not just rush to watch my video cover, haha. It's one way we can connect (if you would love to). I'm glad the deadline was extended and made possible for me to submit my entry.
I would have covered "Unbreak My Heart" by Toni Braxton which was one of the songs I loved listening to when I was younger, although I didn't know the lyrics, I loved the song and the artist and still do. I didn't want to repeat it because I found out it was covered by two contestants.
I went back to search for one that I would easily learn the lyrics to and probably a song I already knew, and then I saw "Zombie" by The Cranberries. I was excited because it's one song I have in one of my playlists I haven't listened to in a while and luckily a song I would have covered back then in the university with some friends who planned to create a rock band.
So, yeah, I headed to the studio to perform this song and I'm glad I did and I had fun with everything about this performance.
"Zombie" was released in 1994 and written by Dolores O'Riordan, the lead vocalist of the rock band who unfortunately passed away in 2018. The violence described in the song is about "The Troubles", the conflict between the nationalists and unionists in Northern Ireland. During the bombings, two children were killed, many injured and lives were lost. More about The Troubles.
Now, I will not limit this to the backstory of this song, for I know many people have experienced some violence or are experiencing it presently in their relationships, marriages, and places of work and have become traumatized and lost their confidence. I know how difficult it is to get out of such a situation. It is best to find your way out of that situation, heal and continue living.
The inhumanity to humans keeps increasing each day as people don't care anymore. They derive joy in intimidating others, and treating humans without consideration and kindness because they are in power and authority.
If you're an employer, a leader, or a partner in a relationship or marriage, how do you treat people around you? If you have in any way maltreated any human being, it's not too late to make a change for I know if you were treated the same way, you'll feel it and likely be traumatized.
During this period of learning the lyrics to shooting the video and to this time I wrote this blog post, I remembered my grandma (May her gentle and sweet soul rest in peace, amen.) who recently passed away on the 4th of February. She would have died happily but the carelessness and wickedness of those in charge of her at the hospital took her earlier than expected as one of the doctors reported that her blood dried.
Like seriously? You have a life to care for and you care less about the life or is it because she was an old woman who couldn't express herself at that moment because of the medication, the wrong ones given to her and the situation she found herself in? (Let me stop here.)
Anyway, if you are in a position to save a life, do so because you may be helpless tomorrow in a critical condition and will need someone to save you.
The world needs peace and more kindness and together we can make this change with little acts of kindness. ❤️
I'm grateful to be in this wonderful community with our amazing judges, @lordbutterfly who came about the initiative of the Vibes community, @silentscreamer, @verbal-d and other sponsors behind this great project and to have met and connected with some amazing artists as well.
I hope you enjoy my performance, feel the positive vibes and emotions and the messages the song brings.
Hugs and much love. 🤗 ❤️

"ZOMBIE" LYRICS
[Verse 1]
Another head hangs lowly
Child is slowly taken
And the violence caused such silence
Who are we, mistaken?
[Pre-Chorus]
But you see, it's not me, it's not my family
In your head, in your head, they are fightin'
With their tanks and their bombs and their bombs and their guns
In your head, in your head, they are cryin'...
Here are the full lyrics.
Instrumental used.
