Attack from Mars: Pinball

in Hive Gaming2 years ago

Bit of a different game here today that I haven't touched in a long time but always try to take the time to play a little bit. I'm not quite sure how I landed on this game, but the Pinball FX3 game on Steam has a ton of these boards they let you buy in "packs" and I really liked this one for some reason and have mostly played it while ignoring most others except a few free ones. I'm not sure how many other boards I received with this package I bought as I mostly just bought it for the Attack from Mars board but maybe something to look at another time.

This board is really fun, the main objective is to clear the barrier of the starship in the middle which is probably the trickiest part, after hitting all 3 boxes it goes down and you're able to shoot right at the ship. Early on it only takes 3 hits or so, then the light switches on whichever country it's blinking on at the time and you're on to the next country with each barrier clear requiring more and more shots at the ship to destroy it.

I'm not going to spoil what happens once you've made your way to the last light as I didn't manage to clear it in these attempts on the recording so let's talk about that next time.

There's a lot of cool side-objectives, free balls you can get and many ways to get rekt by the ball going straight down the middle. I'm not a big fan of using the tilt function so haven't practiced it much, I mostly just sit and pray it's not gonna do what it looks like it's doing when it's heading down the middle. There's times you also may think it's going there and the tilt function may make sure it goes in the middle so seems like a bit of a gamble, but not exactly sure if that's what it is.

Anyway, let me know what you think about this game, it's not really that expensive on Steam and you can spend quite many hours trying to beat your own record or if you're brave enough try and face world records placed by other people.

It's been years since my last pinball game and I was playing this game completely randomly. I was a kid at the time and not knowing English was one of the reasons why I was playing randomly haha. It looks awesome man. I saw the real life machine in the comments section and it might be even more fun to play on that. I've never played it in real life before, I'd love to try it.

Do they make pinball games today? I thought they stopped making them after that mythical game that came out with Windows XP, a true classic, I remember being a kid and playing it. Too bad I never got to play a real pinball arcade machine, I have to settle for virtual versions until today, they simply don't exist here. In itself, the video looks more or less interesting but I would never be unfaithful to Space Pinball.

Yeah they still seem to do, Zen Studios or something. They have new ones with Marvel themes, even saw one with the Portal game theme but haven't bought them yet. :P

ok ok I can get behind this. I love a good pinball game but nothing will replace having a real one #goals

This one exists IRL as well, it looks pretty awesome!

DOPE AF! Not sure I ever meet anyone that doesn't like pinball something that will never go out of style.

Man I kinda miss pinball. I've found so many arcades here where I live now but they never have them. :( The game looks like a lot of fun but I always end up losing the balls in the dumbest ways which makes me rage quit lol.

Yeah was looking at some youtube videos earlier of people playing these irl, even the board I'm playing now. Would be so much fun to open a small arcade and have a qr code thing where people can send hive/hbd to get a discount to play instead of coins. xD

Yeah haha that would be awesome.

Ah, this takes me back to my days of playing Night Flight or whatever it was called. Remember the one that was built into Windows? It's nice to see how much the games have improved over the years. We have a local place that has actual machines. I need to get over there again soon!

I’m pretty much a basic-bottom-flippers-only kinda player…I tend to lack pretty much any nuance, it’s all just the L&R flipper buttons and timing…and even keeping it as simple as all that, I’m still not someone anyone else would want to take pinball advice from 🤣

Haha, took me quite a while to even be able to play this somewhat and as you can see in the video I still end up restarting often due to losing a ball or two way too early. It's quite unpredictable at times and out of your control some times or I'm just too slow.

LOL! I know the feeling. Fun nostalgia though either way :)

I am an old fart I guess and just don't play video games much. I love old school pinball though and would love to find me a machine to put in my basement if I could find one for a decent price.

I have this on PS3. Spent way too much on tables I didn't play much but this one I enjoyed.

Any others that were similarly good as this?

The one I had that came with Mars Attacks was called Pinball Arcade. FX3 by the looks of it doesn't offer the same selection but Funhouse, Cirque Voltaire, Monster Bash, Medieval Madness I remember being addicting in their own way and were all on Pinball Arcade as well.

Oh, man, pinball is a pretty fun game but it is best played in person with a mechanical machine. The excitement, thrill and joy for hitting the ball and hearing all those sounds, is simply unreplaceable.

Medieval Madness best pinball table ever.

actually my skull pinball is way more fun and four can play at the same time for competition :)))

First i thought it's really a attack from Mars to earth 🤣 but than i figured it out that it's a game 😂. Anyways I'll try it too

Would probably have posted it in the "This is how it ends" community in that case. :p

I just hear the voice... "Nyak, Nyak"

Thanks for that!

Seems like something I'll be terrible at😂😂

The most I ever played something related to pinball was when I bought my first computer and this game was already installed on it.
