[Acid Plays] World of Warcraft - Shadowlands preparation

Shadowlands is coming out in a few days and I wanted to warm up for it by leveling up a new character and experiencing the new and updated level where current max is 50. I was going to just buy the cheapest expansion version just to test out the new content, level up to 60 real quick, see what's up at the endgame and maybe enjoy some early days of dungeons, raiding and pvp with everyone being back and playing for the new expansion. I heard this expansion has had some record sales so the hype seems real.

Obviously getting the base pack expansion wouldn't include additional game time subscription with it unless you bought the "epic" pack that cost twice as much - classic blizzard, always about that money - even though they're losing and firing developers and staff left and right and barely even paying any taxes but more about that maybe another time...

So I just bought some game time first and will be leveling up a character before the expansion comes out in a few days. I went for the Monk mainly cause I've never really played it much so figured something new could be cool to try and surprisingly the username "Hive" was available on a new realm I decided to start playing on but not sure if I'm set with that class or if I may switch to some favorites like the druid that will let me try all four roles so I can switch whenever I like.

I noticed they had also changed the way the heirloom items work, they won't give you an xp boost anymore but some other bonuses depending on how many of them you have (set bonus). It was interesting.

If anything this has put me off, this crunching of levels. I recently contacted Blizzard and got my authenticator removed so I could access it again. I was looking forward to another 30 levels and then...

My char is Level 85 and Lich King was the last expansion I played.

A lot of people still play this? I must be one of the few MMO fans out there that never played a single minute of WoW.

My wife will be streaming some WoW on Vimm tonight and throughout this week. She's super stoked for Shadowlands!
