Greetings, Hive!
December is finally here and with it my favorite time of the year: Christmas! And contrary about what many people who know me think, I love Christmas (I really don't know why nobody believes me when I say I love Christmas, I guess it must be because I'm not exactly the friendliest person in the world). This is a time that makes me feel quite nostalgic and reflective, it's a month where there are many celebrations all over the world and people's happiness makes me happy, the best memories of my childhood are from this time, and of course, it's a time that I directly associate with one of my life’s greatest passions: Video games. My first video game console came as a Christmas present, it's a moment that I will forever held dearly in my memory, and logically it was my Christmas wish during that whole year, but... What would be my biggest gaming wish at this moment? It's an interesting question, with an equally interesting answer.
So without any further ado, let's start
Let's see, we can approach this question from a rather simplistic point of view: To wish to have a last generation console, be it a PlayStation 5, an Xbox Series X, a Nintendo Switch, or simply a PC Gamer with the best hardware available in the market, and is that it would be a quite logical wish considering the fact that the newest console I had was the PlayStation 3, this due to a quite particular (and difficult) economic situation that has been living in my country for a few years now, I could even wish for a console of the past eighth generation of consoles, there are a lot of games that I could never enjoy because I didn't have a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. However, I don't think I would want to have a console for free, if anything I would wish my economic situation to keep improving so I could afford a console myself without needing anyone to give it one to me... But no, that's not my wish.
Another thing I could wish is that videogame companies develop "better" games, and although this sounds like something vague I will try to explain this idea better. We all know how problematic can be the development and release of a videogame, usually we are promised things that in the end are not fulfilled or half fulfilled, the reasons can be several; budget, artistic differences, hardware limitations, etc ... We have seen countless times when a game that promised to revolutionize the industry ended up rather disappointing the gaming community and being lost for the company that developed it. So my wish could be that, that all videogames are "perfect", that developers have at their disposal all the artistic freedoms they need and the necessary budget to carry them out, although this in itself is a lie because there is no such thing as the perfect videogame and it's simply impossible to please everyone, so this wish is discarded.
Can you imagine having a collection with all the videogames ever released in history? But when I say all I mean LITERALLY all of them, from The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, to Halo Infinity, to infamous works like E.T or Superman 64; something more like a personal museum of the history of videogames. Imagine, it would be amazing to have in your own home a gigantic room dedicated solely to video games, with all the consoles that have been released and their peripherals included, of course with their entire catalog of games at your disposal, a room conditioned with different types of televisions, armchairs, refrigerators to store cold drinks, specialized lighting system, etc... Although this sounds more like a dream, would be a good wish no? But it isn’t my wish either.
Ok, so far I have exposed three points that could work perfectly for my biggest gaming Christmas wish, however... Neither having all the last generation consoles, nor perfect games, nor the largest collection of videogames, none of that would make sense without something very important, and that these three things have in common: passion for videogames. Yes, that passion that we often take for granted but whose importance is much greater than we think. Without the passion that each and every one of us feel towards videogames the industry would never have become what it is today; it is what it is thanks to all of us who have cried with a videogame, to those who have learned valuable lessons through a videogame, thanks to perseverance and pursuing the dream of being the very best at something or simply for appreciating the videogame as an artistic product; video games are what they are today because we kept playing them even though our parents told us we were wasting our time, many of us learned a second language thanks to video games; Myself, Alejandro Aldana, chose my career thanks to video games, and that's why my Biggest Gaming Christmas Wish is that the flame of passion to videogames always burns with intensity inside each and every one of us, that tomorrow videogames will be recognized as the art that they are, and that no matter how many years go by we keep on playing videogames until the end.

Por fin llegó Diciembre y mi época favorita del año, ¡Navidad! Porque si, contrario a lo que mucha gente que me conoce piensa, adoro la Navidad (la verdad es que no sé porque nadie me cree cuándo digo que amo la Navidad, supongo que deber ser porque no soy precisamente la persona más amigable del mundo). Esta es una época que hace sentir bastante nostálgico y reflexivo, es un mes en el que hay muchas celebraciones a lo largo y ancho del mundo y la felicidad de la gente me hace feliz a mí, los mejores recuerdos de mi infancia son de esta época, y por supuesto, es una época a la que asocio directamente con una de las más grandes pasiones de mi vida: Los videojuegos. Mi primera consola de videojuegos vino en forma de regalo de navidad, es un momento que recordaré y atesoraré por siempre en mi memoria y lógicamente fue mi deseo de navidad durante todo el año, pero… ¿Cuál sería mi más grande deseo gaming en este momento? Es una pregunta interesante, con una respuesta igual de interesante.
Así que sin más preámbulos, ¡comencemos!
A ver, podemos abordar esta pregunta desde un punto de vista bastante simplista: Desear tener una consola de última generación, ya sea un PlayStation 5, un Xbox Series X, un Nintendo Switch, o sencillamente una PC Gamer con el mejor hardware disponible en el mercado, y es que sería un deseo bastante lógico considerando el hecho de que la consola más nueva que tuve fue el PlayStation 3, esto debido a una situación económica bastante particular (y difícil) que se viene viviendo en mi país desde hace unos años, incluso podría desear una consola de la pasada octava generación de consolas, hay un montón de juegos que nunca pude disfrutar por el hecho de no tener un PlayStation 4 o un Xbox One. Sin embargo, no creo que quisiera tener una consola regalada, en todo caso desearía que mi situación económica siga mejorando para poder costearme yo mismo una consola sin necesidad de que nadie me la regale… Pero no, no es ese mi deseo.
Otra cosa que podría desear es que las compañías de videojuegos desarrollen “mejores” juegos, y aunque esto suena como algo mi vago trataré de explicar mejor esta idea. Todos sabemos bien lo problemático que puede ser el desarrollo y salida de un videojuego, usualmente nos prometen cosas que al final no se cumplen o se cumplen a medias, las razones pueden ser varias; presupuesto, diferencias artísticas, limitantes de hardware, etc… Hemos visto incontables ocasiones en las que un juego que prometía revolucionar a la industria terminó más bien decepcionando a la comunidad gaming y siendo perdida para la compañía que lo desarrolló. Así que mi deseo pudiese ser ese, que todos los videojuegos sean “perfectos”, que los desarrolladores tengan a su disposición todas las libertades artísticas que necesiten y el presupuesto necesario para llevarlas a cabo, aunque esto en sí mismo sea una mentira porque no existe tal cosa como el videojuego perfecto y es sencillamente imposible complacer a todo el mundo, así que este deseo queda descartado.
¿Se imaginan tener una colección con todos los videojuegos que han salido en la historia? Pero cuando digo todos me refiero a LITERALMENTE a todos, desde The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, pasando por Halo Infinity, hasta obras infames como E.T o Superman 64; algo más bien como un museo personal de la historia de los videojuegos. Imaginen, sería increíble tener en tu propia casa un cuarto gigantesco dedicado únicamente a los videojuegos, con todas las consolas que han salido a la venta y sus periféricos incluidos, por supuesto con todo el catálogo de juegos a su disposición, un cuarto acondicionado con distintos tipos de televisores, sillones, neveras para guardar bebidas frías, sistema de iluminación especializado, en fin… Aunque esto suena más bien como un sueño, ¿Sería un buen deseo no? Pero tampoco es mi deseo.
Ok, hasta ahora he expuesto tres puntos que podrían funcionar perfectamente para mi más grande deseo gaming de navidad, sin embargo… Ni todas las consolas de la última generación, ni juegos perfectos, ni la colección más grande de videojuegos, nada de eso tendría sentido sin algo muy importante y que tienen en común esas tres cosas: la pasión por los videojuegos. Si, esa pasión que muchas veces damos por sentado pero cuya importancia es mucho mayor de lo que creemos. Sin la pasión que sentimos todos y cada uno de nosotros hacia los videojuegos la industria jamás se hubiese convertido en lo que es hoy en día; es lo que es gracias a todos los que hemos llorado con algún videojuego, a los que hemos aprendido lecciones valiosas a través de un videojuego, gracias a la perseverancia y perseguir el sueño de ser los mejores en algo o simplemente por apreciar al videojuego como un producto artístico; el videojuego es lo que es hoy en día gracias a que nos mantuvimos jugando a pesar de que nuestros padres nos dijeron que perdíamos el tiempo, muchos aprendimos un segundo idioma gracias a los videojuegos, yo, Alejandro Aldana, escogí mi carrera gracias a los videojuegos, y es por eso que mi gran deseo gaming de navidad es que la llama de la pasión de los videojuegos siempre arda con intensidad dentro de todos y cada uno de nosotros, que el día de mañana el videojuego sea reconocido como el arte que es, y que sin importar cuántos años pasen nosotros sigamos jugando videojuegos hasta el final.

Me identifico mucho con esta frase, desde siempre me ha gustado apreciar todo el entorno que rodea y compone a un videojuego, no solo su mecánica o sus eventos principales, muchas veces vale la pena detenerse un minuto y apreciar todo alrededor de un titulo, porque suele ser espectacular, desde la banda sonora mas épica hasta la ambientación mas lúgubre, son cosas hermosas.

Es así, los videojuegos tienen mucha herencia artística de las películas, pero creo que lo llevan a un nivel más allá porque los videojuegos son interactivos y el invilucrarte directamente con los acontecimientos aumenta mucho más la inmersión.

Man I used to dream of a place like that where I had all the games and consoles and stuff. In the future I hope to be able to build some kind of man cave where I can start collecting gaming stuff. Nice post and great wish!

But yeah, I think everyone around here has dreamed with some place like that, just imagine having access to not only any game you want but also toys, collectible figures, special edition's consoles, it's history!

Siempre he querido una habitación llena de consolas y videojuegos y poder jugar lo que me plazca en cualquier consola, aveces veo youtubers que tienen habitaciones similares,, pero nunca he visto que muestren todo lo que tienen. Yo lo más que tengo es mi Nintengo 64 con entre 30 y 40 juegos, una colección que espero seguir haciendo crecer. Seguiremos jugando video juegos por acá, buen post, saludos.
De hecho, creo que solamente una habitación no sería suficiente para todo lo que (por lo menos a mí) me gustaría tener, o sea, serían tantas pero tantas cosas que debería ser un ala completa de mi casa dedicada única y exclusivamente a los videojuegos jajaja. Yo también conservo algunas cosas retro, pero también me gustaría hacer crecer mi colección en algún momento de mi vida

jajajja es cierto se necesita mucho más espacio si uno quiere tener una verdadera colección. Es algo que necesita tiempo y recursos economicos, y se puede empezar según nuestras posibilidades. Saludos.

Cuando mencionaste lo de la colección de juegos, pensé en que también deben contar los juegos simples como los de disney JAJAJA y esos piratas que creaban JAJAJA "Gta los simpsons" JAJAJA y por eso a mi ese tema no me llama taaanto

Hermano, no sabes cómo te apoyo con varios de los deseos que colocaste por acá, por ejemplo el de las industrias de videojuegos, ¡ESTOY COMPLETAMENTE DE ACUERDO! Ahorita todos los videojuegos son como una especie de "refritos" de otros videojuegos, como el caso de "Among Us" y "Betrayal", sabemos que realmente siempre se tienen que tener referencias, pero da mucha rabia querer jugar diversos juegos y que estos traten de lo mismo o tengan la misma velocidad de trama, de desarrollo de personajes, es algo aburrido.
También deseo que la llama de la pasión por los videojuegos se mantenga viva siempre porque yo seré gamer hasta la tumba y si puedo serlo en el próximo plano, pues que así sea, me encantó muchísimo tu post, hermano, ¡sigamos creciendo!
Hermano aprecio muchísimo que hayas pasado por aquí! Me alegra que te haya gustado mi post y también me alegra mucho que estemos de acuerdo en muchas cosas. En el desarrollo de los juegos estamos siempre viendo "imitaciones" o "referencias" a otros juegos, y si bien no hay nada de malo en esto, hay veces en el que se pasan de la raya... Cada vez es menos común ver obras originales y que le apuesten a todo sin el fin de sacar dinero con microtrasnacciones.
