I used to play MMORPGs quite often, in fact it was probably my most played genre in my teenage years. Now though I only turn on an MMORPG to kill time or if I need to listen to something for research I'll have the audio playing in the background while I farm materials.
Once the joy and glamor of MMORPGs wears off its extremely difficult to get back into the whole aspect. Thank you for the post!
I think that the joy and faded glamour you are talking about is due to reasons such as the fact that almost all MMORPGs are similar, I'm not saying that they are similar in visual or mechanical aspects, but in essence since as I said before, the vast majority of the objectives in the game are based on the same or similar, which ends up overexploiting the formula that makes up an MMORPG.
