Ah, the travails of a travelling gamer... I have my Steam Deck for when I'm in the airplane, or as my little one likes to call it... Dad's Switch. So, as we hit cruising altitude, I had made sure that she was comfy for the long flight ahead... she wanted to play on her Switch and we got that up and running, attached to a battery and after some glitching with the Bluetooth headphones... she was away and gaming, playing The Escapists 2. I've started to suggest that she and her older sister start having a go at the companion game of Prison Architect, but they seem to find it more fun to escape the prisons rather than building them!
Anyway, with her all settled in... I was ready to get my self set up. Fired up my Steam Deck... only to see this infuriating login screen! ARHGHGHGHGGHGHGH!!!! With no internet, there was no way to log back in... all those games, just in the palm of my hand but they may as well have been back at home, Sigh... and this is a long 5 hour flight.
In the end, I got a bit of a nap... it was an early morning flight after all, and I probably needed that much more than I needed a couple of hours of uninterrupted gaming time. But I WAS looking so forward to some gaming...
... ah well, I could just watch my kid playing the Escapists... and then I went back to reading Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle comics on my colour e-reader. Not completely lost time... but still...
WHWYWHWYHWYWHWYW Steam Deck?!?!?!?!?!?

Yikes! Never knew the Steam Deck requires an online connection to login. Is there no way to open its operating system offline?
Makes me really appreciate my Switch a lot more, knowing most all games can be played without any internet. Only needed for redownloading a stored game, or use a cartridge.
🙃That's always infuriating to see. I don't know why these days game require that. For someone who often forget these stuff, it's annoying. I don't recall back in the day we're required online just to play something unless it's Multiplayer. I've been wanting steam deck for a while but after knowing they don't work offline, thank goodness 😄
Oh that must have been infuriating! I bet you will make damn sure that you are logged in before you get on your next flight! Surely you don't have to do this every single time you turn it on?
