Shadow Of The Colossus is an action-adventure game developed by BluePoint Games. The game is a remake of the original title released in 2006 for the PlayStation 2. You play as wander a young man who enters a forbidden land to fight 16 colossi which he believes will revive his lost love.

The gameplay loop is fairly straightforward after the initial prologue you have to head out into the open world and find the colossi. To do this you use your sword shine it in the light and if you find the right place it will point you in the direction to head then it's off to find the colossi, fight it, kill it and repeat the process until all the colossi are dead. To defeat the colossal you need to mount the creature so you need to jump onto its legs injure it so you can climb up and start to find its weak spots.

But it isn't as easy as you think wonder has a limited amount of strength in the beginning and once the circular meter is empty you let go and fall to the ground and you really have to time your ascent correctly. Otherwise, you're not gonna be able to stay on long enough to do enough damage. There are also some secrets and collectibles around the map to find but it's a loop of boss fights followed by very long stretches of lonely travel throughout the game world to find the next boss.

In regards to the game just a quick mention on that it's a very beautiful game world in this remake but it does get quite tedious like the first few times you're exploring it's nice but then after a while, you do start to think you know there should have been some more things in the environment but anyway graphically it's a stunning open world and it's a beautiful place to explore but the colossi are just stunningly like amazing things to behold and fight.

The game also features a photo mode which on the whole is pretty good although the focus function is unnecessarily complex. In terms of sound, the music is a standout it's one of the most beautiful soundtracks you will ever hear. The other sound effects are decent although they're quite minimal. The colossi are epic beautifully created and interesting to fight the game is a visual masterpiece the musical score is wonderful and the game adds some extra secrets that hardcore fans will appreciate. The auto center feature of the camera is very annoying. The game world is a little too sparse and some of the boss fights feel almost identical.

Final Thoughts

Shadow of the Colossus is a visually stunning experience with an unforgettable series of boss fights. The colossi are enormous and each battle brings a new challenge to overcome. The game world is visually stunning albeit one of the emptiest worlds you'll ever encounter. The music is gorgeous and the whole experience is one that will live with you for a long time. However, the game does become a little repetitive after you've killed a number of colossi, and the fact that the game world doesn't feature any towns characters or anything of no at all does bring the overall experience down a touch but despite this overall, it's a unique and memorable adventure with some of the best boss fights you will ever have.
