Fury Unleashed is a 2D action platform game developed by Awesome Games Studios. You play as a comic book hero who has to work your way through various comic strips. The game can be played solo or via couch co-op

GAMEPLAY

Fury Unleashed is one of those simple games you can jump into within five minutes and you're up to your neck in the action. Controls are fluid and responsive, with a variety of guns, melee weapons, and projectiles at your disposal. It's a twin-stick shooter, and you've also got superpowers that give you a small boost for a limited time. You can jump, and dash, and it's a very fast-paced and entertaining gameplay loop.

The game is a roguelike, meaning you get one life to complete the comic strip. Die, and you have to start again. But, thankfully, you can spend your experience in between runs to level up. Each comic strip is broken down into comic chapters, with each one concluding with a boss fight. The levels are littered with various enemies, treasure chests, blessings, and mid-level bosses. The action does get quite frenetic as you try to avoid enemy traps, fire, and other environmental dangers.

On the whole, it's a very fun game to play. Even though you're playing with one life, it wasn't an annoying roguelike, and I guess you would call it more of a rogue light. As you accumulate experience, you upgrade your hero, and over time, you'll fill up your skill tree, making the runs a lot easier because you can go deeper into the map. You can also unlock new starting weapons, and new character skins, and the character customization, albeit limited, is a nice inclusion.

Graphics & Sound

Graphically, the game adopts a cartoon comic strip style, with nice colorful maps, cool-looking characters, and satisfying combat effects. In terms of sound, the general effects were well-suited. The)sic is kind of action-orientated cheese, but on the whole, the audio seemed to fit just nicely.

Good and Bad

What's good: The controls are smooth, the combat is satisfying, and it's very addictive. Couch co-op is amazing fun and offers a lot of replay value. It's one of the most satisfying and entertaining action games I've played recently.

What's bad: The boss fights were a little bit primitive, the levels are quite short, and it is a little bit easy on the whole.

Final Thoughts

Fury Unleashed is a simple, fun, and very entertaining game. It doesn't overcomplicate the experience; it's got simple controls, well-thought-out progression, good solo, and good co-op, and it's a game that will make you smile. It's very addictive, and if you want a fun shooter to play on your own or with a mate, then this is absolutely worth looking at. Yes, it might be a little bit easy in the long run, and it could have been done with some more levels, but I really didn't find those things too much of an issue, and every session was a good laugh. So, yeah, definitely recommend it if you want some light relief and a bit of fun for about a week or so.
