Hey Hive Gaming! A few months ago I did a post about the wonderful SA:MP (San Andreas Multiplayer), and talked a bit about some good quality servers you could enjoy on the platform, as well as some very enjoyable game modes on these servers and squeeze the most out of your old San Andreas. During this post I talked about the RolePlay mode, which is one of my favorites and definitely the one that gives more stories to tell, as well as the reason why I spent so many years inside this platform, and I always come back to it.
In today's post I will tell some stories of my time roleplaying as a police officer in a SAMP server, and some incredible things that happened, and that are the proof that our imagination is the limit when creating stories and RolePlay is the proof of it. Currently the mode has spread to many other platforms, such as the best known currently is RAGE:MP, which takes RolePlay to another level in GTA V, including even voice chat when roleplaying.
I honestly prefer the simplicity of RolePlay in SAMP for not having to listen to 14 year olds yelling into the microphone while roleplaying, and it also retains a much more unique factor, which is to create a real personality to your character, as well as by pure interpretation, that other people interpret on their own how they can imagine you (As tone of voice, physical appearance, attitude, etc.. ) and this of course helps too much to take the role seriously by really getting into the role of this virtual world in which you play another person and can be whatever you want, which is too interesting a concept.
Normally I used to play illegal roles, such as a mafioso, gangster, biker, smuggler, among others. But the police role always caught my attention, so I decided to join the police academy of a server where I played, but it didn't accept any more members so I decided to go to the Sheriff's Department (which is "almost" the same thing). I created my character, studied enough to get in, and finally I was accepted in the Sheriff Department exams.
RolePlay is based on interpretation, and in these servers interpretation is everything, and they are usually based on reality itself and many times they manage to accurately replicate things from real life within the game, and you can even have to submit a resume to enter a company within a role server, get to do advertising work, among other things that give the RolePlay definitely another level of realism and those who most cling to this concept are usually the police and sheriff departments.
You don't know how hard it was for me to get in, I had to read information about real life police and sheriff departments to answer a lot of questions during the interview and since you play a real department in Los Angeles, well you have to get the idea in your head that you are trying to get into this one.
I finally managed to get into the department, and after a long training process at the academy, and having to read the manual with the procedures and codes from top to bottom to learn them by heart, as well as radio communication and hierarchy ranks, I finally got enough to get in as Police Officer I, being in a probationary status and having to patrol alongside another officer in charge of my training and supervision.
As you can notice, the realism never stops and yes, these procedures and codes are so well done and so in depth that the manual had about 20 pages full of information, plus what you then have to learn during patrols.
During my patrols I began to realize something, almost all crimes that occurred in the city, happened in the area of Ganton and the whole department already knew this, because it is an area where gangs frequent, and the high crime rate is common in this area. Shootings, robberies, chases and arrests occurred daily in this area, and patrolling in Ganton alone was a certain death sentence.
One day, during one of our routine patrols a 911 call came in about a gang shooting on Groove Street, so we were tasked to go as backup to another unit and as soon as we arrived they cornered us and started shooting from all sides. After shooting down one of the attackers, and others fleeing, we began to investigate the area, taking license plates from vehicles in the area that we suspected of belonging to the gang and taking testimonies from different neighbors.
Everyone in the anti-gang division had realized that the gang was going to be a piece of cake because they were so inconspicuous, and also shared a common factor, such as having vehicles with the same colors as the gang, as well as tattoos or clothing associated with the gang, which obviously made it easier for us to identify them. We couldn't impound the vehicles or do a raid, and we couldn't make arrests without enough information or evidence to get a warrant from a judge, so everyone in the department went to work.
During a procedure in Idlewood for a burglary report we received on a 911 call, well we found two rather curious individuals, Brandon Philips and James West, dressed in Ganton gang colors, but we couldn't jump to conclusions, however we had a thread to start investigating from, because Brandon's vehicle had been photographed as part of the Groove Street investigation, so I immediately assumed it belonged to the gang, so I could start looking from there.
Finally and as we expected, Brandon was caught in the middle of a standoff with the police after being caught escaping from an armed robbery in the area. As soon as we arrived the situation was complicated, he managed to take cover between the vehicles in the street and began to open fire with a submachine gun, killing two officers and wounding one. We divided into two groups along the area to corner him, until finally he had nowhere to go and we managed to shoot him down.
Brandon was wearing a clown costume, as he was with another group of his gang, who had just completed a robbery, but his group abandoned him and he was left alone against the police. However, we managed to identify him with his identification document and proceeded to take him away after attending to his wounds with a doctor.
As I was the officer who was more active in the case with the anti-gang division, they let me interrogate Brandon, after of course telling him that he would go to jail for a few years with fines of hundreds of thousands of dollars if he didn't give us something useful, and as he only wanted to save his skin he gave us information that would lead us to finish tying all the threads together.
During the interrogation he told us that his group had gone to raid the Pig Pen, a nightclub quite frequented in the city, located near Ganton. According to him, they went to the place after investigating it for a while, because the owner moved a gigantic amount of weapons, narcotics and money through the place, in addition to the fact that it was used for money laundering, and they went thinking they would leave with their hands full, but they had to escape quickly as soon as the police arrived and only took a small part of the loot.
Upon further investigation and searching through the apartment's files, we found the name of the owner "Brayan Shelby", so we started the search and managed to catch him. He had a gun on him along with several magazines, so we had enough to take him to the apartment and intimidate him a bit with a ridiculous jail sentence, but that really scared him, since he didn't want to lose his precious club, his business, let alone his freedom. We offered him to tell us everything he knew and in exchange, we would release him and not touch his club or his business, as long as he remained a direct informant for the Sheriff's Department, and of course he accepted all the conditions and started talking.
It was incredible everything he told us, he finished connecting all the dots we were missing in the investigation, and he gave us the names of the two leaders of Ganton's gang, because they were buying guns from him, but they ended up turning against him. And to our surprise, the heads of the criminal group were none other than Brandon Philips and James West (The same ones you saw in the procedure where we got Brandon's vehicle that was linked to the Groove Street shooting). So with all of this, we already had some of the last threads we needed to connect to finally wrap up the investigation, and apply for the search warrant.
During one of our routine patrols in the Idlewood area, we spotted James West himself with other members of his gang at "The Well Stacked Pizza", and decided to grab the camera and start photographing James West and everyone with him from a distance. After a while and to no one's surprise, the situation turned violent in the pizzeria, and West's group got into a fight in front of the place against a group of individuals who were there. So we responded to the 911 call, went to the site, and as soon as we got there
and as soon as we arrived, James West and his companions were on the run, and the chase was on.
Upon arrival at the Jefferson Motel, the suspects got out of their vehicle and began to open fire on our unit, so we proceeded to return fire and call for backup. The situation became hell in a matter of seconds, reinforcements could not arrive and were not even enough to support us, the street was in chaos, and more and more gang members were arriving to support their comrades, and it was just my partner and I against a group of 4 gang members armed with submachine guns, and more kept coming....
We took the unit as cover, we took the shotgun and the submachine gun from the trunk of the patrol car and we started to try to defend ourselves, but they were coming from both sides of the street and we were trying to do what we could to confront them and we couldn't even escape because they destroyed the engine of the unit with bullets. Finally they were able to fight us, they climbed up to the roofs of some businesses we had behind our position and they shot us down.
But they didn't take into account that we had our active BodyCams on us, as well as the unit's camera that recorded everything, and took the faces of all the individuals, and with that we had enough to apply for the search warrant, so the sacrifice was worth it.
During the week of planning "Operation Ganton", there were several arrests throughout the area, and in other parts of the city, of some of the gang members, in which we confiscated several firearms and narcotics, and more and more evidence was being gathered to bring this gang to an end.
The final day arrives, and finally "Operation Ganton" is successful, we raid Groove Street, closing the street and searching each of the properties, as well as seizing all vehicles owned by gang members and other suspects, along with hundreds of weapons, ammunition and narcotics hidden in each of the houses.
As soon as the operation was carried out, the main known gang members and leaders were added to the wanted list. Many in the process of arrests and others fled the country, went into hiding, changed their identities, or were killed by rival gangs, all of which is still a matter of supposition and theory.
The Ganton case was finally closed, crime rates in the area were significantly reduced with the gang's gang, as well as the sale of narcotics and weapons. Although as always, another one will come to take his place and sooner or later a new criminal group will appear to take the place and business left by his predecessor, and definitely the action will never end in this chaotic city full of greedy criminals.

Hey Hive Gaming! Hace unos meses hice un post acerca del maravilloso SA:MP (San Andreas Multiplayer), y hablé un poco sobre algunos servidores con buena calidad que podían disfrutar en la plataforma, así como algunos modos de juego muy disfrutables en estos servidores y exprimir al máximo su viejo San Andreas. Durante este post hablé acerca de la modalidad RolePlay, que es una de mis favoritas y definitivamente la que dá más historias que contar, así como la razón por la que pasé tantos años adentro de esta plataforma, y siempre vuelvo de nuevo a ésta.
En el post de hoy contaré algunas historias de mi época roleando como oficial de policía en un servidor de SAMP, y algunas cosas increíbles que sucedieron, y que son la muestra de que nuestra imaginación es el límite a la hora de crear historias y el RolePlay es la prueba de ello. Actualmente el modo se ha esparcido por muchas otras plataforma, como por ejemplo la más conocida actualmente que es RAGE:MP, que lleva a otro nivel el RolePlay en GTA V, incluyendo hasta chat de voz al momento de rolear.
Honestamente prefiero la simpleza del RolePlay en SAMP por no tener que escuchar a niños de 14 años gritándole al micrófono mientras están roleando, y además se conserva un factor mucho más único, que es el de crearle una verdadera personalidad a tu personaje, así como por pura interpretación, que las demás personas interpreten por su cuenta cómo te pueden imaginar a tí (Como tono de voz, aspecto físico, actitud, etc.) y esto por supuesto ayuda demasiado a tomarse en serio el rol al de verdad entrar en el papel de este mundo virtual en el cual interpretas a otra persona y puedes ser lo que quieras, lo cual es un concepto demasiado interesante.
Normalmente solía realizar roles ilegales, como puede ser de mafioso, pandillero, motero, contrabandista, entre otros. Pero siempre me llamó la atención el rol de policía, así que me decidí por entrar a la academia de policía de un servidor en el que jugaba, pero ésta ya no aceptaba más miembros así que decidí irme al Departamento del Sheriff (Que es "casi" lo mismo). Creé mi personaje, estudié lo necesario como para entrar, y finalmente me aceptaron en las oposiciones al Departamento del Sheriff.
El RolePlay se basa en interpretación, y en estos servidores la interpretación lo es todo, y suelen basarse en la realidad misma y muchas veces logran replicar con exactitud cosas de la vida real dentro del juego, y puedes llegar a tener hasta que presentar un currículum para entrar a una empresa dentro de un servidor de rol, llegar a hacer trabajo de publicidad, entre otras cosas que le dan al RolePlay definitivamente otro nivel de realismo y los que más se aferran a este concepto suelen ser los departamentos de policía y sheriff.
No saben cuánto me costó entrar, tuve que leer información acerca de los departamentos de policía y sheriff de la vida real para responder muchas preguntas durante la entrevista y como se interpreta a un departamento real de Los Ángeles, pues debes meterte la idea en la cabeza de que estás intentando entrar a éste.
Finalmente logré entrar al departamento, y tras un largo proceso de entrenamiento en la academia, y tener que leerme el manual con los procedimientos y códigos de arriba a abajo para aprendérmelos de memoria, así como la comunicación por radio y rangos de la jerarquía, finalmente conseguí lo suficiente como para entrar como Police Officer I, estando en un estatus de prueba y teniendo que patrullar junto a otro oficial encargado de mi entrenamiento y supervisión.
Como pueden notar, el realismo nunca se detiene y sí, estos procedimientos y códigos están tan bien hechos y tan profundizados que el manual tenía como 20 páginas llenas de información, más la que luego debes aprender durante los patrullajes.
Durante mis patrullajes me empecé a dar cuenta de algo, casi todos los crímenes que ocurrían en la ciudad, sucedían en la zona de Ganton y ya todo el departamento sabía esto, debido a que es una zona en la que frecuentan pandillas, y es común el alto índice de criminalidad en esta zona. Ocurrían tiroteos, robos, persecuciones y arrestos diarios en esta zona, y patrullar en Ganton solo era una sentencia de muerte segura.
Un día, durante uno de los patrullajes rutinarios llega una llamada del 911 por un tiroteo entre pandillas en Groove Street, así que nos encargan ir como apoyo a otra unidad y apenas llegamos nos acorralan y empiezan a disparar de todas partes. Luego de abatir a uno de los atacantes, y que otros se dieran a la fuga empezamos a investigar la zona, a tomar placas de los vehículos de la zona que sospechábamos que pertenecían a la pandilla y tomar testimonios de distintos vecinos.
Todos en la división antipandillas se habían dado cuenta de que la pandilla iba a ser pan comido por tan poco discretos, y además compartir un factor en común, como lo es tener vehículos con los mismos colores de la pandilla, así como tatuajes o vestimenta asociada a la pandilla, lo que obviamente nos hacía identificarlos más fácilmente. No podíamos embargar los vehículos ni hacer un allanamiento, y tampoco hacer arrestos sin información o pruebas suficientes como para pedir una orden del juez, así que todos en el departamento nos pusimos manos a la obra.
Durante un procedimiento en Idlewood por un reporte de robo que recibimos en una llamada al 911, pues encontramos a dos individuos bastante curiosos: Brandon Philips y James West, con vestimenta de los colores de la pandilla de Ganton, pero no podíamos sacar conclusiones apresuradas, sin embargo teníamos un hilo del que empezar a investigar, debido a que el vehículo de Brandon había sido fotografiado como parte de la investigación a Groove Street, así que de inmediato supuse que éste pertenecía a la pandilla, por lo que podría empezar a buscar desde ahí.
Finalmente y cómo esperábamos, Brandon quedó en medio de un enfrentamiento contra la policía luego de haber sido atrapado escapando de un robo a mano armada en la zona. Apenas llegamos la situación estaba complicada, logró tomar coberturas entre los vehículos de la calle y empezó a abrir fuego con un subfúsil, abatiendo en el acto a dos oficiales e hiriendo a uno. Nos dividimos en dos grupos a lo largo de la zona para lograr acorralarlo, hasta que finalmente ya no tenía a dónde ir y logramos abatirlo.
Brandon iba con un disfraz de payaso, puesto que estaba junto a otro grupo de su pandilla, que habían acabado de realizar un robo, pero su grupo lo abandonó y quedó él solo contra la policía. Sin embargo, logramos identificarlo con su documento de identificación y procedimos a llevárnoslo luego de atender sus heridas con un médico.
Como yo era el oficial que se encontraba más activo en el caso con la división antipandillas, me dejaron interrogar a Brandon, luego de por supuesto decirle que se iría unos cuantos años a la cárcel con unas multas de cientos de miles de dólares si no nos daba algo útil, y como solo quería salvar su pellejo pues nos dió información que nos llevaría a terminar de unir todos los hilos.
Durante el interrogatorio nos comentó que su grupo había ido a asaltar el Pig Pen, un club nocturno bastante frecuentado dentro de la ciudad, ubicado cerca de Ganton. Según él, fueron al sitio luego de investigarlo un tiempo, debido a que el dueño movía una cantidad gigantesca de armas, narcóticos y dinero a través del local, además de que de por sí era utilizado para lavado de dinero, y éstos fueron pensando que saldrían con las manos llenas, pero tuvieron que escapar rápido apenas llegó la policía y solo se llevaron una pequeña parte del botín.
Al investigar más y buscar entre los archivos del departamento, dimos con el nombre del dueño "Brayan Shelby", así que empezamos la búsqueda y logramos atraparlo. Traía encima un arma junto a varios cargadores, así que teníamos lo suficiente como para llevarlo al departamento e intimidarlo un poco con un sentencia de cárcel ridícula, pero que de verdad logró asustarlo, dado que no quería perder su preciado club, sus negocios, y mucho menos su libertad. Le ofrecimos que nos contara todo lo que sabía y a cambio, lo liberábamos y no tocábamos su club ni sus negocios, siempre y cuando se mantuviera como un informante directo del Departamento del Sheriff, y por supuesto aceptó todas las condiciones y empezó a hablar.
Fue increíble todo lo que nos dijo, terminó de conectar todos los puntos que nos hacían falta en la investigación, y nos dió los nombres de los dos líderes de la pandilla de Ganton, debido a que éstos le compraban armas, pero terminaron volteándose en su contra. Y para nuestra sorpresa, las cabezas del grupo criminal eran nada más y nada menos que Brandon Philips y James West (Los mismos que vieron en el procedimiento en el que conseguimos el vehículo de Brandon que estaba vinculado con el tiroteo de Groove Street). Así que con todo esto, ya teníamos algunos de los últimos hilos que debíamos conectar para finalmente terminar con la investigación, y solicitar la orden de allanamiento.
Durante uno de los patrullajes rutinarios en la zona de Idlewood, logramos divisar al mismísimo James West con otros miembros de su pandilla en la pizzería "The Well Stacked Pizza", y decidimos tomar la cámara y empezar a fotografiar de lejos a James West y a cada uno de los que lo acompañaban. Luego de un rato y para sorpresa de nadie, la situación se tornó violenta en la pizzería, y el grupo de West tuvo una pelea frente al local contra un grupo de individuos que se encontraban ahí. Así que respondimos a la llamada del 911, acudimos al sitio
y apenas llegamos, ya James West y sus compañeros se dieron a la fuga, y empezó la persecución.
Al llegar al Motel de Jefferson, los sospechosos bajaron de su vehículo y empezaron a abrir fuego contra nuestra unidad, por lo que procedimos a responder al fuego y solicitar refuerzos. La situación se volvió un infierno en cuestión de segundos, los refuerzos no podían llegar y ni siquiera eran suficientes como para apoyarnos, la calle era un caos, y cada vez llegaban más miembros de la pandilla a apoyar a sus compañeros, y quedamos solos mi compañero y yo contra un grupo de 4 pandilleros armados con subfusiles, y seguían llegando más...
Tomamos como cobertura la unidad, tomamos la escopeta y el subfusil del maletero de la patrulla y empezamos a intentar defendernos, pero llegaban por ambos lados de la calle e intentábamos hacer lo que podíamos para enfrentarlos y ni siquiera podíamos escapar porque destruyeron el motor de la unidad a balazos. Finalmente pudieron contra nosotros, subieron a los tejados de unos negocios que teníamos detrás de nuestra posición y nos abatieron.
Pero éstos no tomaron para nada en cuenta de que traíamos encima nuestras BodyCams activas, así como la cámara de la unidad que grabó todo, y tomó los rostros de todos los individuos, y ya con eso teníamos lo suficiente como para solicitar la orden de allanamiento, así que el sacrificio valió la pena.
Durante la semana de planificación de la "Operación Ganton", hubo distintos arrestos en toda la zona, y en otras partes de la ciudad, de algunos miembros de la banda, en los cuales confiscamos varias armas de fuego y narcóticos, y cada vez se iban reuniendo más pruebas para llevar a esta pandilla a su fin.
Llega el día final, y finalmente salió exitosa la "Operación Ganton", realizamos el allanamiento a Groove Street, cerrando la calle y registrando cada una de las propiedades, así como incautando todos los vehículos que poseían miembros de la banda y otros demás sospechosos, junto a cientos de armas, municiones y narcóticos escondidos en cada una de las casas.
Apenas realizada la operación, se publicaron añadieron a la lista de búsqueda y captura a los principales miembros y líderes conocidos de la pandilla. Muchos en el proceso de arrestos y demás huyeron del país, se escondieron, cambiaron de identidad, o fueron asesinados por pandillas rivales, todo queda en suposiciones y teorías aún.
El caso Ganton quedó finalmente cerrado, los índices de crímenes en la zona se reducieron significativamente con la pandilla de esta pandilla, así como la venta de narcóticos y armas. Aunque como siempre, llegará otro a ocupar su lugar y tarde o temprano aparecerá un nuevo grupo criminal a querer tomar el puesto y los negocios que dejó su predecesor, y definitivamente la acción jamás va a tener fin en esta caótica ciudad llena de criminales codiciosos.

Sin dudas el roleplay siempre trae consigo buenas posibilidades, ya que el único limitante es la imaginación, luego de que se establezcan las normas todo puede pasar mientras estás se respeten, no sabia de esta modalidad del GTA y me parece muy interesante, aún más si se le suman los clásicos Mods, la aventura que describes es muy interesante ya que ustedes usan el Rol para tomar los papeles de quienes en la historia original son los villanos, es decir, muestran la otra cara de la moneda y me parece muy interesante, sobre todo lo de la operación antipandillas.

El roleplay es demasiado increíble apenas lo descubres en esta plataforma, ya que el mismo juego y las implementaciones de los programadores ayudan muchísimo a la experiencia y la hacen sentir realmente realista. Puedes tomar el papel que quieras, como volver a ser pandillero al igual que en la historia del juego, o ser policía, y hasta tomar papeles como el de mafioso italiano, ruso, chino o japonés, e incluso llegar a ser abogado o periodista, simplemente esta modalidad el único límite que tiene es tu propia imaginación!
I didn't know San Andreas had an online version although I used to play the offline version for a long time. Actually I didn't have a secured internet connection at the time I played this game so maybe that's why I didn't know about the online version.
Now that I see the screenshots in your post, I see the online version has poor graphics if we compare to the offline version. I mean, a lot poor.
Yeah, i understand you, i can't play it so much too, cause i have problems with my internet conection, but i play samp sometimes when the internet gets better.
And no, the online version doesn't have changes in the graphics or something, the game stills have the same graphics, if u see poor graphics on the screenshots it's because my graphics card is very bad

What? GTA San Andreas? Dude, it's been years since I've seen this game and I didn't even know it was still available online. Role playing is always fun, especially if you have good friends. I'm glad you were able to solve this case. Congratulations!
