Social Media Challenge | Strategy to adapt to the unified rules of “Back to Basics y Earthquake”

In this opportunity I will share a very peculiar battle, where I will demonstrate and also explain why adapting to a good rule is crucial to increase your chances of winning a battle that, most likely would have been lost if the conditions had been different, even so, not everything is brute force on the battlefield, with enough strategy you can win battles that could even be considered lost with significant disadvantages of power between our opponent's cards and ours, so I intend to teach you how to correctly counteract one of the most complicated rules to play of all "Splinterlands".

Before proceeding with the explanation of the strategy and why I decided to highlight this battle, I will give a brief description of the rules involved in my battle, all in order to know them and know the ideal way to counter them.

Back to Basics

This is a very simple rule to understand, however, in my experience and in the number of battles I have had since I have been playing this great game, most players are used to facing each other in battle using to their advantage the various skills that exist in the "Splinterlands" universe, something that, of course, is not bad, the problem is that they do not prepare for when you can not use any ability and also have against you another rule that decreases your life points in each round, taking into account that all skills are nullified thanks to "Back To Basics".

In my opinion, this is something that tests any player because basically with this combination you have everything against you, even so, the best way to win if we only had "Back to Basics" against us, is using cards with good "Speed" and a powerful "Magic Attack" type capable of damaging the life points of our opponent's cards, something essential, but how do we counter the other rule?

Earthquake

This rule in my opinion is one of the most complicated to adapt in the whole game since it causes a terrifying earthquake capable of destroying the life points of any monster on the field in each round, although it focuses only on cards that do not have the ability to "Fly", which can decrease your chances of winning quickly if we do not really think of something good to counter it, in order to reduce the damage the number of possible rounds to win and that our opponent falls by itself.

This would be an ideal scenario, but taking into account that you don't have any ability in your favor, let alone the ability to fly, what else can we do? This is a very interesting question, which has only one answer since our creators established only one way to be able to win this combination of rules and that is by using a summoner capable of giving us the absolute advantage in the battle, even when the power of our opponent's cards is greater than ours. It may seem simple, but with just a couple of minutes to think about our strategy, it usually has a high defeat rate, at least for those less experienced in the game.

Now I will explain the strategy of how to beat this very complicated combination of rules:

The first thing we must be very clear about is that our chances of winning are low, but, just as it is for us, it is also low for our opponent, however, our goal is to win and the only way for our cards to survive the earthquake caused by "Earthquake", is by using a summoner, bearing in mind that we must have enabled the use of the "Dragon Splinter". This summoner is none other than "Brighton Bloom", which is capable of giving our entire team the ability to "Fly", even when the "Back to Basics" rule is active.

On the other hand, the perfect combination of the Dragon Splinter is with the "Water" team, which is characterized by having the most powerful magical attacks of the whole game, taking into account that we must use the cards with the highest attack power and with the highest possible speed, since what will possibly determine the winner of this battle is who can attack first. Following this, we will increase in a great percentage our probability of winning, even if our adversary has more power in his cards, since, if he does not have speed and an important magic attack, his possibilities diminish, this was the case of this battle.

Back to Basics & Earthquake with 44 Mana.

  • Mana: 44
  • Back to Basics: Monsters lose allá abilities.
  • Earthquake: No-flying Monsters take 2Melee damage at the end of each round.

Brighton Bloom

This summoner is key and primordial to be able to come out victorious from this combination of rules, so, when we are presented with something very similar we have to play it since it is the only way to counteract the powerful attack of "Earthquake". For this reason, I obtained an important advantage against my opponent that of course due to "Back to Basics" none of his cards had the ability to fly.

The Kraken

The truth is that I could not have chosen a better tank for these rules as my "Kraken"since my goal is to support the highest number of rounds on the battlefield, while the rest of my cards attack my opponent's tank. In addition, his powerful shield of +3 points, his very high vital points amounting to +14, and his great speed and attack both +4 points, make him the most powerful card in my formation.

Ice Pixie

I chose to place this card in the second position taking into account that no ability works in this kind of battle, so keeping my strongest cards in the last positions was the most important in my strategy. Even so, its +1 point magic attack power worked very well against my opponent, and the strategy worked very well because my "Kraken" was able to withstand all the attacks of my opponent.

Djinn Oshannus

One of the strongest cards of my formation in charge of taking the offensive against my opponent, since its great speed of +5 points, the +10 points of life that it has, and its great power of magic attack of +2 points, allowed me to quickly finish with the tank in turn that my opponent had during the development of the whole battle.

Captain´s Ghost

This is my second card with an important magic attack, being even more powerful than my "Djinn Oshannus" since its attack power amounts to +3 points. In addition, it is also an important piece of my offense, taking into account that it has very good health of +7 points, giving me a great advantage against my opponent who only focused on melee attacks.

Fire Spitter

This is one of my favorite cards of the Dragon Splinter, its attack is not of the magic type, but of range, but it has an incredible speed of +4 points, which far exceeds most of the cards that my opponent used in his formation. On the other hand, its great attack power of +3 points makes it a very strong monster, which causes serious damage to anyone it manages to reach.

Lightning Dragon

This is by far the strongest dragon I have in my dragon team, also he has a speed superior to any card in the field, including the rest of my formation, being this +6 points, on the other hand, has a very good +6 points of life and a powerful attack of +3 points of the range, making a very strong team with the "Fire Spitter" in this type of attacks.



This strategy worked perfectly for the type of rules that I had, which are a very complicated combination to overcome and more in a couple of minutes, so my recommendation is that in your deck of "Splinter of Dragon" cards, you must have a "Brighton Bloom", to counter especially "Earthquake". Even so, this was not all that made me shine in this battle, where my opponent did not have the slightest chance to win, as I placed the right cards with the right speed and type of attacks for my team to mesh despite not being able to use any ability on the field.

On the other hand, my opponent's lineup was really bad for this combination of rules, with all due respect to every opponent I played in "Splinterlands" of course since as I said, most players make their formations taking into account the abilities that their cards have, without paying much attention to the rules of the battle, especially ones like these, which are quite complicated both together. Finally, my opponent's formation was actually not bad, if his cards had had all the abilities they have, they would all be supported and would be meshed to such an extent that I would have been the one to lose, that's why adapting to such important rules as "Back to Basics and Earthquake" is extremely important.

I hope that this post will help the less experienced players to know how to handle these rules and can, based on this strategy, be able to increase their winning rate in the game.

Looking awesome! Here i have some suggestion about positioning. Based on the ATTACK SEQUENCE, you may put oshanus in 2nd position, and fire spitter in last position (optional).
