No one could have anticipated it to be so brutal - Playing Hotline Miami

It's already routine for me to go back to games that I haven't completely finished yet, I always want that 100% added to my library and also I wanted a game that challenged me, not because the ones I had played before didn't do it, but I wanted something more visceral, weirder or sent me on a psychedelic trip, and I think Hotline Miami has just that in large doses, especially this second installment that risks everything.

I had already played it before without completing it, I felt that it was not my style at that time and although I still do not like the type of camera that this game has too much, I have been able to slowly appreciate everything it has to offer, especially with its gameplay, Although we are also going to talk about those simple graphics that we see from above and I think they manage to convey a lot with a few pixels, just as I like in these low-budget titles.

So the gameplay is brutal, we complete missions as various characters but most of the time we will be someone who is not very well mentally and we will start a massacre against everyone we see in the building in which we are, our weapons are all the objects that we We find ourselves including the weapons of our own enemies, the more brutal the killing, the more points we will earn.

Although it also has its share of drama and history, I am not going to get into that in this post because I have noticed that I still do not understand very well what is happening, it seems that they tell it to us in parts and only in the end will everything make sense so I I reserve it, the really juicy thing is the gameplay and since we have to be an expert butcher who kills everyone without dying, with a single shot we end up dead and we will have to restart the area so it is in our best interest to know the routes of the guards and be lethal.

There are everything from sticks, baseball bats, knives, to long-range weapons, shotguns and other extra weapons, all of them kill us with one shot although they have some differentiators that are useful to us, the short range ones are an instant kill for the guards like that. It is convenient for us to use them if we are in a corner or if the room is small, while pistols or shotguns tend to leave some guards alive so we can finish them off, they also work well to attract guards to an area to finish them off in a rush.

You die more times than you can count but everything restarts so quickly that it makes you want to keep trying more than giving up. It is true that many times the deaths seem unfair to me or is it that everything happens so fast that you don't have time to react? to the bullets, there are several levels where it is like this and you have to try several times through different routes until you finally force your way to the end, in most of the missions we just have to kill everyone and get out quickly but there are some where We can't kill anyone and we have to sneak away.

A parenthesis to talk about the art of this game, from the beginning of the first mission you realize that everything seems like a dream, the scenery moves in a hypnotic way to distract us from the objective and each death seems more exaggerated than the previous one, the The massacres that we have to do here are quite brutal but the points we earn with each death flatten the journey, I think that is the point of the narrative of this game that I will say again, I don't understand it too much and I lack context of the story, but it's still fun to spend a night.

I have seen this videogame in many occasions in some internet pages and the truth is that it looks very interesting, it is a very retro game but it looks fun.

I actually think everyone anticipated it to be so brutal seeing as they marketed it that way.

Not going to lie one bit it is a bit gruesome but I kind of like the idea of it all! Reminds me of gangsters! That mobile game way way back everyone use to play on mobile!
