I have been on a gaming kick lately. A game a forgot about, but stumbled across while I was scouring the internet was Heroes of Might and Magic II which was released in 1996. It was developed by New World Computing and published by the 3DO Company. The expansion pack, Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Price of Loyalty which I use to play, was released later in 1997.

If you have not played it, Heroes of Might and Magic II is a turn-based strategy game set in a fantasy world. Players control a hero character who can recruit armies and capture towns and castles. The gameplay consists of exploring the map, completing quests, and battling against enemy forces.

One of the standout features of Heroes of Might and Magic II is its wide variety of unit types, each with their own unique abilities and strengths. The hero character can also learn new spells and skills as they progress through the game, adding another layer of strategy to combat.

The game's graphics and sound design are impressive for its time, with detailed sprite-based graphics and a memorable soundtrack. The story, while not particularly deep, provides enough context for the player's actions and serves as a good backdrop for the gameplay.

Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Price of Loyalty is an expansion pack for Heroes of Might and Magic II. The expansion adds new content to the base game, including new campaigns, maps, and unit types.

One of the main additions in The Price of Loyalty is the inclusion of new campaigns, which continue the story of the base game and introduce new characters and locations. The expansion also adds new maps for players to explore and conquer, as well as new unit types for players to use in battle.

In addition to these new features, The Price of Loyalty also includes various balance changes and improvements to the gameplay mechanics of the base game. These changes are meant to enhance the overall gameplay experience and make the game more enjoyable for players.

Overall, Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Price of Loyalty is a welcome addition to the base game, offering new content and gameplay improvements that enhance the overall experience. If you enjoyed the base game and are looking for more, The Price of Loyalty is definitely worth checking out.

Trust me, I really missed my gaming life 😟

I never played the Heroes of Might and Magic games. I did play the Might and Magic games. In fact, I just bought the complete catalog from GOG for really cheap. I have been playing them and it is bringing back such awesome memories. I will have to check out the Heroes games sometime. If the price is as good as the others, it should be a no brainer!

Wow, talk about nostalgia! Heroes of Might and Magic and Warcraft were probably the first two games I played on a PC when I was younger and I still look back on them fondly. Now I need to see if I can get my hands on this and play it again!

Might wanna look into the fHeroes2 project as well as the Heroes 3 mod called Heroes3: The Succession Wars, which transports Heroes 2 into Heroes 3 ;)
