Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War is a Hexagon-based, 4X, Turn-based strategy game based on the Warhammer 40k lore.

In Warhammer 40,000 universe, The Imperial Guard represents us-- the humans in the world filled with elves, dark elves, orks, undead, demons, monsters, and etc.
INDISCRIMINATE RANGED FIREPOWER
- Initial Challenge: Hard
- Billions of Men: Inexpensive ranged infantry, but susceptible to morale.
- Heavy Armour: Mighty armoured vehicles with many upgrades.
- Thundering Artilery: Extremely long-ranged artillery.
- Imperial Bastion: Defensive fortification to keep attackers at bay.
- The Bureaucracy of War: Issue city edicts to increase city output.
Billions of Men... that's kind of depressing as a faction's main trait don't you think? Billions of men, Billions of replaceable men. Anyway, I guess this just means that the Imperial Guard struggles early game and push late game with armoured vehicles as fast as possible.

Oh my god! I expected the early game to be difficult but not at this level, I am restrained from moving my units outside of the city walls. Turn by turn I can feel how hopelessly depressing the situation is.
The injured is taken back to the citadel to recuperated, the abled are given guns and uniforms are sent to the frontline to hold the enemy's advance.

Leman Russ main battle tank keeps invaders at bay while it's not a silver bullet to any encounter, It has proven itself capable and dependable.
The suffering ended when I finally fielded my first Baneblade.

Baneblades are the Imperial Guard's pride and joy, Heavy tanks carrying the Imperial Guards' hopes and dreams.

But just because a Baneblade is a pinnacle of power doesn't mean they are impervious to battle damage, They have feelings too. This is where Tech Priest Engineers comes in with their ways in maintenance rituals, They are able to heal the Machine Spirit of a Baneblade.
(If you are wondering what is a Machine Spirit, it mostly means Operating System, mostly.)

It's also a good idea to have artillery pieces and guardsmen with rocket launchers to compliment Baneblades.

As our forces grow in numbers so is the resources required to supply them. As mentioned earlier the Imperial Guard has the ability to enact 'Edicts' in their cities, Edicts range from increasing a specific resource output, to improving unit production, and even to speed up population growth--Breeding License Edict.

In Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War there are two ways to win, through supremacy and through a quest line. The quest line ends with the Imperial Guard being able to connect to the Astronomican(Think of VPN for Mankind) and asking for help which in doing so, Emperor willing, send the Imperial Navy to take this planet back under the Imperium.

It's pretty good.
At first I dismissed this game as just another Civ5/Civ6 clone but after playing it I was pleasantly surprised, This game is better than Civ5/Civ6 by far.
Factions are unique from each other, Having their own needs and their own playstyles.
There's no diplomacy which makes perfect sense since each factions are fighting for a single planet, lore-wise they simply can't co-exist with each other. As a game it has multiplayer and teams can be set though.
I have the vanilla Warhammer 40,000: Gladius - Relics of War which means I don't have access to additional units provided by DLCs.
Hopefully I get to talk about the other factions in the future.
Cheers!, Thanks for reading!
Do you like these type of games? I've never been fond of it, although I do love my strategy but this turn based games... Well honestly I suck at them xD probably why I don't like it that much!
The graphics looks good though!
I've seen you playing this a good bit lately. Looks fun although not my type of game. I'm excited for the upcoming Space Marine 2 and also want to try Darktide although the reviews haven't been the best.
those look really nice! as for me I am very tempted to buy W40k:boltgun. 😆
I like the fact that factions can't coexist with each other and diplomacy doesn't make much sense haha. I think the only game of this style I've played was Crusader Kings, but even so this one seems different to me. In general they are games that appeal to me, but I find them so complex, that I'm still looking for the right moment to get into one of them, because it's clear that they can consume many hours.
Indeed, these type of games have a magic that when you start to play in 8:00 in the evening, you look at a clock and it's 4:00 AM. 😆
