Playing video games has always been my thing since my childhood years and up till now, I still play and enjoy playing video games – maybe not as much as I used to do back in the days, but I still play a good amount of games especially when I am bored. Talking about my best video memories, this is kind of tricky as I have quite a lot of great video memories… Nonetheless, if I am to make my choices of my best video game memories, then I will have to pick about 6 memories…
Super Mario on 8bit
I believe this game needs no introduction as it still remains one of the most popular video game franchise in existence. Playing Super Mario on the Sega 8bit console during my childhood years was one of the best ever feeling. It was such and addictive game and our favorite character Mario, it was such a fun time playing the game. One of the things I like about the game aside from the gameplay is the soundtrack and the unique game design, look and feel. It is such an iconic game.
Super Sonic on 16bit
This is also up there with the likes of Super Mario when it comes to memorable games I played during my childhood years. Playing Super Sonic on the Sega 16bit console was a good of an experience as playing Super Mario on the Sega 8bit. Super Sonic was such a unique game that actually gave Super Mario a run for its money. The gameplay and the Sonic character was such a joy to behold.
Sunset Riders on 16bit
Sunset Riders still remains one of the games with fabulous gameplay on 16bit console. One of the most challenging games I played back then on my sega 16 bit console. I can remember how frustrating it was to complete the came by defeating the main villain of the game. I can remember the joy I felt to series of frustrations coming close only to fail due to the intense joy that I felt when I finally completed the game. It was such a relieve to complete the game from start to finish. That game was interesting and a lot of fun.
8bit Era
The Sega 8bit era was the start of my video gaming journey. I played quite a lot of games on the Sega 8bit console like Super Mario of course, Contra, Tetris, a lot of fighting games, pin pong and more… I have so say, the 8bit game console era was such an amazing time for me as a gamer and if I look back at those days and come across any of those games on the 8bit era, I can’t help but put up a very big smile.
16bit Era
Like the 8bit console era, the 16bit era was also a memorable experience for me as well. It was a huge upgrade to the 8bit era in terms of type of games, graphics and gameplay experience… it was big jump from playing games on the 8bit to playing games on the 16bits console. Some of my best games on the 16bit console was Super Sonic as expected, Sunset Riders, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Micheal Jackson and more… Unlike the 8bit games, the 16 bit games can still be fun to play even though the graphics is way down compared to the quality and graphics of games now. I have to put the 16bit era as my favorite game memory as it was such a huge time for gamers back then.
PlayStation Era
The Playstation era is for me the top of the top. It was at this era that I first saw what a 3d game looks like. I didn’t play much games on the playstation 1 as I was still enjoying my 16 bit console. But the PlayStation 2 was in my opinion the best game console that was created back in the years. Games on the playstation looked lifelike, for the first time, gamers could move in true 3d in the game unlike the up, down, front and back movement limitation on the 8bit and 18bit consoles. The games on the playstation was epic and stunning. Sports game, God of War, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, and a lot of fun and exciting games that were created for the PlayStation 2. To be honest, the playstation 2 games can still hold up today in terms of gameplay and fun to play… and even though the graphics quality isn’t a match compared to the next generation games presently, the quality of games and gameplay experience still holds up today. The quality of this game especially back then was jaw dropping. I would put the 8bit and 16bit era above in terms of pure and true enjoyment when it comes to gaming as now, high end games has gotten so advanced that it becomes a bit more technical to really find the kind of fun that was in the games on the 16bit console most especially. Above all, the playstation era was great and still great as we look continue to play and enjoy more and more advancements when it comes to game technology and consoles.
Final Words
Playing games is an amazing experience and while these memories are definitely up there in my best video game memories, there are definitely a lot more memorable memories for me. I enjoyed every bit of my video game memories – from the my first ever video game played on the 8bit console to the games I play now, I have to say, It has been a fun and amazing video gaming journey as I look forward to playing many more fun and exciting games.

Sunset Riders! I had totally forgotten about that one ,I used to play that alot in the arcades.I might need to take a nostalgic trip down memory lane with that one soon.
I really enjoyed Sunset Riders a lot. Completing the game from start to finish was an amazing feeling for me back then
I always had a good time with Sonic, glad there is someone like me that enjoyed Sonic games too.
Same here, Sonic was probably my favourite game on 16bit console.
Super Mario is a classic that will never go out of fashion, so many years since its release and still today's kids have interest in it, I remember those moments of frustration when entering the 4th world, I think I played it more than 30 times before I could advance.
Even I have Mario in emulator for the phone, and although the game evolved a lot I stay with the classic version.
