Last Milestones For Omega Expedition.jpg

While I was having a blast during the Omega Expedition. I was also looking forward to seeing what the end reward would be for doing so. I only had a couple more milestones left and one major distraction that derailed me for a bit.

taking out sentinels.jpg

I was on the run from the sentinels. I needed to take a dozen of them out for a milestone. The only issue is they will keep showing up wave after wave with further reinforcements.

I managed to take a couple of them out. Then I'd jump in my ship and attempt to flee. The sentinels then would send a ship after me. Thankfully with a little luck or just taking it out and then jumping. I would be free to repeat it a second time to get the milestone finished.

Usually when I'm flying around, I just ignore incoming messages or alerts about something being in the area. That is unless it’s something related to any of the milestones I need for the expedition.

This time around I decided not to. It just ended up being way too strange to ignore. I was alerted to an abandoned freighter. While I had already acquired one. I thought I'd take a look at what was left behind.

It was nothing like I was expecting. Instead of it being a ship I could take. There was a bit of a story behind it regarding its crew. There were active defenses I had to take out. I even needed to acquire an ID to break my way through certain systems and areas.

This place was wild. Even better I had collected a few reports from all the looting and checking of tables I found. The local space station ended up offering a reward for turning in what I had discovered. The loot inside the thing was not bad either.

It’s a shame I did not need to run one of those for the expedition. It was at least a nice break from everything else I was doing. That is what ends up making a game like this so fun. You just never know what kind of trouble you could find yourself in by checking something out.

rendezvous 5.jpg

Two of the rendezvous planets I would end up landing on would end up leading me to these teleportation areas. Each planet has its own set of symbols. I don’t quite recall how the entire system works. It’s however a means to teleport around the game.

I had a couple of milestones that just required me to go out and craft. I ended up doing two of them back-to-back. Once you finish one you acquire the blueprint for the next. I ended up lucking out. After a quick trip to my base, I discovered I already had the resources needed for both of them.

Once I was done at my base. I’d just teleport back to the station in the system I left off from. Then I'd just keep going deeper. Since I now had finished getting to all the special planets I needed. I next needed to find a blue star solar system. That would end up requiring a bit of a trip to find one. Along with making some upgrades to my ship.

crazy looking planet.jpg

The deeper into the expedition I was getting the crazier the planets I was starting to discover seemed to become. These planets with rings were just breathtaking. Even more with the strange little floating islands where it seemed a few exploded with energy.

processor.jpg

There was one milestone I was just struggling to finish. It seemed rather easy. I just needed to make some biscuits. For that, I just needed some flour and sugar. Along with making a nutrient processor.

Getting a plant to refine into flour was the easy part. The planet my base was on has the exact type. Finding a plant I could refine into sugar ended up being more challenging. I ended up searching through all the planets I had explored and none of them that I noticed had the right kind.

I then went planet jumping from one random planet to another. I was using free look on the galaxy map not following any route one way or another. After about half a dozen jumps, I ended up finding some sweet root.

I had no idea that was not going to be the real issue. I went to refine everything into their processed form. I then made the dough needed. I then baked it. Just for the milestone to repeat back to the start of my needing to collect refined flour.

On my third attempt, an important thing popped up in what I needed to do. I was not just supposed to be combing the flour and sugar. I needed a third ingredient like eggs. What a pain in the behind that would have been to get something like that.

Instead, I'm sitting at the refiner just clicking on anything it would allow me to click on. I just started crafting random foods. One of them by some dumb luck was included as one of the outcomes the milestone was looking for. I hope I never need to do this one again.

pirate station.jpg

For another milestone, I needed to become a smuggler. This required sneaking into a pirate system hoping to not get ganked. Then heading onboard, to a station and buying illegal goods.

I then warped to the system next door hoping to not get scanned. I dumped those goods on the market for a nice little profit and some further slots for my multi-tool.

the staff.jpg

I now had all but one phase remaining for the expedition. This is where rewards started to get a bit cool. I picked up this weapon that looked like a staff. I’ve seen better weapons in terms of output. None of them however looked this crazy looking. It was taller than my character.

Up till this point, I had not done anything to upgrade my ship. I was starting to feel a bit lacking, to say the least. Thankfully I ended up coming across a new ship. It was quite strange nothing like I had to do in the past to get a crash-landed ship. Instead of having to repair systems. I needed to communicate with it.

sentinel ship.jpg

I needed to purge a sentinel out of the ship to be able to take it over. This involved having to go around collecting different items. From a brain to strange glass. The whole experience was quite bizarre, to say the least.

Funny enough I was just one more milestone away from being done with the expedition. This in turn would reward me yet another ship. I kind of feel silly for wasting so many rare resources I had to install a bunch of modules on the last ship I had just gotten.

starborn runner.jpg

The next ship I got was called the Starborn Runner. This seemed kind of a strange name to be calling a ship as if it was a hint at another science fiction game. This thing looked so dope though.

Final Thoughts

expedition done.jpg

Overall running the expedition was quite fun. At this point, I just have to check in and see if the community collectively towards the end of this event has made enough progress on all of the remaining rendezvous planets for me to get those small rewards as well. Otherwise, nothing else I can do.

This was a rather fun way to get back into the game. While it had me do a lot of basic stuff. I kind of needed to do them anyway to get my footing in this game. I can only hope the next ones are a bit more challenging.
