It was time I returned to the Myreque and offered them my help further. They would need to relocate the few remaining survivors they had. I then would be tasked with gathering some information and attempting to make contact with another Myreque group deep within the lands of vampires.
In Aid Of The Myreque
In the past, I've done the quest In Search Of The Myreque for some combat experience. It was time to return to them and help them relocate to a better area. This would require bringing along some building materials.
Turns out they have relocated to quite a desolate town called Burge De Rott. I feel rot being in the name was right. This place looked like it had been abandoned for decades. This place did not even have a working bank let alone shops when I first arrived. I decided I needed to do something about that.
At first, I had to convince the guards at the gates to even let me in. Frankly, I'm shocked I could not just go around the side and jump over the small fence line they had around the place. It looked like the only thing that had been built recently. It was however not perfect.
Myreque themselves are at war with the vampires. They wanted to make sure I was not a vampire before letting me in. I feel we are both on the same side as far as what one should do with vampires. I’m all for hunting and killing them.
Once inside it was time to get started at restoring the place. In one of the buildings, there was a basement filled with rubble. I ended up breaking up that rubble and bringing it up to a massive garbage pile they had going in fixing the place up.
Next up I was tasked with fixing up some business. For the most part, they just needed some work done on the outside like putting some boards up. Many of these places just needed some items to sell to get started. So, I ended up supplying them with some starting goods.
Other places had issues with the roofing. It was a good thing I ended up bringing a few nails and boards along with me. It was a bit of a walk to just get to the fairy ring to get back to the bank. Speaking of which. This place needed a bank.
The bank itself had some massive holes in the back end of it like someone robbed the place. There were also some things inside that needed to be fixed as well. I was just thrilled once I had it up and running again that I could access a bank here.
This place would happen to be the only bank in the area for quite a decent distance. I’d be needing this bank for quite a few quests I'd be running around here in the future. Not to mention there is a mini-game and a bunch of other stuff around this area. Having a bank was quite needed.
This town was not as safe as they were trying to let on. Even more so when vampires can just fly or use magic to get inside the walls. Landing right into a shop. I was at least able to take out the vampires that tried to ambush me.
While I ended up killing one of the vampires. The other one ended up living. The town decided it was best to try and get some information out of him if they could. I don’t blame them. These evil creatures are up to something and letting them just do whatever they want needs to be put to an end.
Next up I needed to do quite an annoying part. I needed to help transport one of the village people to a new area. I did not want to spend a lot of money making this part easy. I was given the option to buy some gear for that person. At the time I was hopeful I could do it without needing to resort to going all the way to the Grand Exchange and spending a bunch of gold.
There were also two different paths I could end up taking the person I was with. We could either face some lower-level stuff but face four at once. Otherwise, I could fight some higher-level stuff but only deal with two. I was hoping the lower levels had a small enough amount of health so I could kill off one or two of them rather quickly.
I was quite wrong in my thinking. Even at the lower levels they still had sixty health each. The issue was not that I could not deal with them hitting me. The issue was when the person I was supposed to be escorting ended up getting attacked as well.
Once the person I escorting took enough damage, he would flee back to the hiding spot I found him at. Making me have to also flee and then attempt the entire thing all over again. I ended up failing quite a few times.
I even tried going the other route as well. I just could not kill one of the vampires quickly enough before they would start attacking both of us. I even tried to find any safe spots that I could try and lure the person I was transporting into. For a while, I thought I was golden till he wandered out of it.
In the end, I made the trip back to the Grand Exchange to buy a bunch of lower-level food and armor. I gave him lots of food and some of the amour I had acquired. We then went for one final attempt going through the higher-level vampires. Thankfully this attempt was a success and we made it to the other side.
Once that was done, I was sent on a short adventure to find some text, a key, and a rod. I then performed some kind of spell on a water well to finish this one off.
Darkness of Hallowvale
I ended up discovering there were more Myreque out there than the group I've met so far. They were however quite well hidden within Meiyerditch. Which happens to be quite a massive maze of a place to get around in.
If it was not for a bit of help from a plug-in I use. I’d have been lost and it would have taken me forever to find the way through the maze I'd soon be embarking on. I’m thankful in the end I opened up a bit of a shortcut and hope I'm not having to go through this maze area much more in the future.
Thankfully to get into the place the Myreque had a boat I could take whenever I needed to. It would put me on the outskirts of the place. Allowing me a chance to try and sneak in. Not that would be so much sneaking around as I'd end up getting caught quite a few times by vampires wanting blood or work out of me.
It did not take long for that to happen either. Right after I got off the boat and followed some broken down walls into the maze. A vampire ended up flying down and taking some blood from me.
I then started to make my way through part of the maze. I was to meet up with someone not that far in. This place was filled with quite a few decaying buildings. More times than not a straight path forward was being blocked by how the place was decaying. Requiring me to go all over the place just to move forward a bit to a location I needed to get to.
Once I had met with my contact I had to make it even deeper into the maze. Sometimes I was traveling along the second story of buildings for quite a while. Other times I was cutting through walls to make a way forward. There were even the rare moments when I'd need to make repairs to something and use that as a walking path to another section.
As someone who could get lost in a shoebox, I found this place to be a nightmare. Thankfully I had some help during the quest to get through it. Otherwise, I would have been lost, turned around, and lost again. All from just taking a couple of steps. Even after going through the maze a couple of times since then, I still get lost.
It was however all worth it. I ended up making it to the location I was told would be a hidden hideout. The contact there was not aware I would be coming. Thankfully there was not much convincing needing to be done on my part that I was not a vampire there to drink her blood.
I then had to make it out of the maze and back to the person I started the quest with. I needed to tell them I had made contact. I also brought back a message with me that contained information about some stuff going on.
That information was however not enough. So, I was sent out to a location that indicated that a vampire had attacked someone. It turns out it was a trap! While I was ambushed, I at least lived. From there I was told to inform the king at Varrock Castle right away.
It seemed this quest was going to require a lot of walking around out of me. I so wish I had the inventory space for my graceful outfit. I however wanted to make sure I had enough food with me to deal with the vampires anytime I had an encounter. So, like a lot of these more challenging quests. My graceful set sat in the bank unused collecting dust.
I then found myself having to get back onto the boat and return to the maze. I was so not looking forward to going back to that place. Not that far in I got caught by another vampire. This time around I decided to check out what working for them in the mine involved.
It turns out I had to mine enough ore to fill a mining cart. After that, they would let me leave for some reason. I suppose vampires wanting blood don’t want to kill or work someone like me to death. They then would not get all the blood they wanted.
It also turns out that getting caught and asking to work in the mine could be used to my advantage. Once I was done, I was not brought back to the spot I was caught. They instead let me out not that far from where the hiding spot was. This allowed me to return quickly with some news I needed to deliver.
My next tasks did not go so well. I ended up going deeper through the maze till I got to the main castle. The vampires had been keeping a watchful eye on me. They did not like the fact I was attempting to hear things going on around the vampire castle.
It seemed like the whole thing was a bit of a trap. I barely escaped. I at least gathered some critical information. I then got caught by another vampire who gave me the option to give him my blood or go work in the mine. This ended up working out to my advantage as working in the mine at this point was quite the shortcut to getting back to relay some information I had learned.
Final Thoughts
There are further quests in this series dealing with the vampires and Myreque. It would be a little while before I'd be returning. I was lacking some requirements and wanted to get better gear before doing so.
At the very least I got some decent experience from working on these. I also had quite a blast even if I was not a bit fan of the maze. This was part of the game I've seen on the map and I always wondered what was over here. So I was just thrilled getting to explore it.
