Twelve Minutes, presents us with a story that seems to have been written by Christopher Nolan or Alfred Hitchcock, it is a simple and direct story which becomes more complicated as we make decisions, managing to keep the viewer attentive to the truths and stories that we are discovering. What can you do differently if you wake up and know what is going to happen in the next 12 minutes? Twelve Minutes, is a crazy thriller inspired by great classic thrillers, an adventure that has a story that keeps you in constant suspense, making decisions and in a time loop that seems infinite. So far, in my opinion, it is the Indie surprise of this year 2020.


Twelve Minutes, nos presenta una historia que pareciese haber sido escrita por Cristopher Nolan o Alfred Hitchcock, es una historia simple y directa la cual se va complicando a medida que vamos tomando decisiones, logrando mantener al espectador atento a las verdades e historias que vamos descubriendo. ¿Qué puedes hacer de diferente si despiertas y sabes lo que va a ocurrir en los próximos 12 minutos? Twelve Minutes, es un Thriller demencial inspirado en grandes películas clásicas de suspenso, una aventura que posee una historia que te mantiene en suspenso constante, tomando decisiones y en un bucle temporal que parece infinito. Hasta el momento según mi criterio es la sorpresa Indie de este año 2020.

STORY

One day you come home from work and are greeted by your wife. The whole atmosphere is peaceful and quiet despite being a difficult day at the office. Your wife prepares dinner, uncorks a wine to celebrate and give you the news that she is pregnant, there is no way to describe the happiness you feel at that moment however life has prepared something else for you. An unexpected event brings with it a stranger who comes to jail your wife, you discover something you don't know about her, you are beaten up and seek to defend your home, but you die in the attempt. You wake up 12 minutes before these events and you know what is going to happen, time is running out and you must look for possible solutions to avoid your death and to know the truth.


HISTORIA

Un día cualquiera regresas del trabajo, llegas a casa y te saluda tu esposa, todo el ambiente desborda paz y tranquilidad a pesar de ser un día difícil en la oficina. Tu esposa prepara la cena, destapa un vino para celebrar y darte la noticia que está embarazada, no hay forma de describir la felicidad que sientes en ese momento sin embargo la vida te tiene preparado algo más. Un evento inesperado trae consigo a un extraño que viene a encarcelar a tu esposa, descubres algo que desconoces de ella, te golpean y buscas defender tu hogar, pero mueres en el intento. Despiertas 12 minutos antes de esos eventos y sabes que va a suceder, el tiempo corre y debes buscar las posibles soluciones para evitar tu muerte y conocer la verdad.

GAMEPLAY

Twelve Minutes, in the style of 12 monkeys or Groundhog Day presents us with a time loop. During 12 minutes we will live a series of events, we will discover information and we will die, if we do not reveal the causes of this situation that we live. The game presents a decision making system, which determines the outcome of the situations and the main story, the player by trial and error must be interacting with objects, with characters, trying their luck to know or know the aspects of the plot that have not been revealed. The death within the game works as a reward system, motivated that when the time loop is restarted we have information on how to solve the situations we have already lived. It has elements of Crafting we can combine a series of objects to obtain others or to use them with the other characters, elements of motivated search that we must review until the last corner of the game. Twelve Minutes presents a view from above and is developed in a single scenario which is a room of the house.

JUGABILIDAD

Twelve Minutes, al propio estilo de 12 monos o el día de la marmota nos presenta un bucle temporal. Durante 12 minutos viviremos una serie de eventos, descubriremos información y moriremos, si no develamos las causas de esta situación que vivimos. El juego presenta un sistema de toma de decisiones, el cual determina el desenlace de las situaciones y de la historia principal, el jugador por ensayo y error debe ir interactuando con objetos, con personajes, probando suerte para poder saber o conocer los aspectos que no se le han develado de la trama, La muerte dentro del juego funciona como un sistema de recompensa, motivado a que cuando se reinicia el bucle temporal poseemos información de cómo resolver las situaciones que ya hemos vivido. Tiene elementos de Crafting podemos combinar una serie de objetos para obtener otros o usarlos con los demás personajes, elementos de búsqueda motivado a que debemos revisar hasta el último rincón del juego. Twelve Minutes presenta una vista desde arriba y se desarrolla en un solo escenario el cual es una habitación de la casa.

GRAPHIC SECTION

The creator of the game Luis Antonio, is a designer who already has extensive experience in the field, was in charge of modeling the art of another game The Witness so if we look in detail, we can see that Twelve Minutes presents some elements within its artistic section that can remind us of the video game mentioned, the shades of color, interior design, the play of light and shadow. This is a game that presents a very well elaborated graphic section, it does not present excesses that divert our attention on the contrary it chooses to develop a minimalist concept achieving that the narrative is the protagonist and the artistic section the co-protagonist.


APARTADO GRAFICO

El creador del juego Luis Antonio, es un diseñador que ya tiene amplia experiencia en el ramo, estuvo a cargo de modelar el arte de otro juego The Witness por eso si miramos con detalle, podemos ver que Twelve Minutes presenta algunos elementos dentro de su apartado artístico que nos pueden recordar al videojuego mencionado, las tonalidades del color, el diseño de interiores, el juego de luces y sombras. Este es un juego que presenta un apartado grafico muy bien elaborado, no presenta excesos que desvíen nuestra atención por el contrario opta por desarrollar un concepto minimalista logrando que la narrativa sea el protagonista y el apartado artístico el coprotagonista.

SOUND

Neil Bones, the person in charge of the soundtrack puts the icing on the cake, a composer who has already stood out in the world of videogames, he is also a multi-instrumentalist who has participated with great orchestras. For this occasion he presents us with melodies in his own style of psychosis, memento or brilliance; musical notes that manage to maintain the suspense in every step we take, it is not a work that becomes monotonous or repetitive. He knows how to focus and give strength to the different situations that happen on screen, making the story flow like water.


SONIDO

VERDICT

Twelve Minutes, is an exceptional game that manages to bring out the best in each of its sections and above all maintains a frenetic rhythm that manages to keep the spectator's heart beating, managing to give us an immersive experience. The best part of the game is the script, which is worthy of being taken to the cinema, and the visual section, which is presented with a great level of detail and colors that remind us of the Sims. Without a doubt, this is a game that is not wasted and we should put it on our wish list.

Twelve Minutes, es un juego excepcional que logra sacar lo mejor de cada uno de sus apartados y sobre todo mantiene un ritmo frenético que logra mantener al espectador con el corazón agitado, logrando darnos una experiencia inmersiva. Lo mejor del juego su guion el cual es digno de ser llevado al cine, su apartado visual que se presenta prolijo con un gran nivel de detalle y colores que nos hacen recordar a los Sims. sin duda alguna este es un juego que no tiene desperdicio y debemos ponerlo en la lista de deseos.

Se ve brutal en serio, la mayoría de estos juegos con toma de decisiones cuentan con varios finales, normalmente unos buenos y otros malos, como en heavy rain o until dawn, sabes si este también cuenta con distintos finales?, Saludos!
