I Got Rid of My PS4... For a Good Reason.

Trading PS4 Slim 1TB for GPU

Yup. That's the Marketplace listing I made. Why did I do this? I just wasn't using my PS4 anymore.

My PSN account is now worth a whole lot more with all the games I've purchased, but that's fine. Eventually I'll get a PS5 anyways (once I'm rich).

It took me a while to look and find a decent graphics card, but I finally did, at least considering how much a PS4 is worth. It took me tons of messages and scrolling through Facebook Marketplace to find something worthy of replacing my RX 570, but I did find it.

And it's great!

I ended up getting a Mancer Heimdall RTX 2060.

What the fuck is a Mancer Heimdall, you may ask.
It's the brand, and model!

As you can see, these are going for quite a bit above what I was selling my PS4 for.

"But it's a used card!", you may say.

Except it's not. I got it on its box, sealed, entirely new. It's great.

Sure, it's a white label card. But Mancer is a brand I really respect since they're basically made / rebranded by Pichau (a very good Brazilian PC parts shop).
And its still got its warranty, so if anything goes wrong here, I'm safe.

Not to mention how pretty the card looks, specially on its backplate.

Also... The seller seemed a little... oblivious, to what he was selling, because he included with the graphics card a PSU, also sealed, also from Mancer, and at 600w.

Altogether this is probably worth around R$2000, which is R$800 more than what I paid for it. I'm currently selling this PSU on Facebook marketplace, alongside my old RX 570. With that money I'll be trying to buy a laptop for my father as that's a gift he's shown tons of interest in.

Maybe a powerful-ish Chromebook, maybe an older laptop that was powerful in its heyday, but I'll get him something decent, that's for sure. I'll find a way.

  • My Next Step

Right now I'm powering down $HIVE to buy a new CPU, motherboard and RAM combo... Simply because my i7 3770 is struggling to keep up with more modern titles.
Games that aren't CPU bound run absolutely fine and look great, stuff like Cyberpunk 2077 can even maintain good framerates with Raytracing turned on on low.

But we'll see how HIVE grows in the next couple of days.

It's really nice though, getting a new graphics card and being excited for something, specially after a brutal break-up with my ex-gf 2 weeks ago. It's great that stuff like this is making me happy.

I would be buying these PC components a lot faster if it weren't for my health issues (chronic headaches and sinusitis), but I'm back on HIVE baybee! Two days in a row, let's try and make it 3, maybe?

I don't mind selling my PS4 at all with all this that happened, and some games despite my CPU being very limited are running a whole lot better, and that just makes me smile and sometimes jump with joy.

Raytracing is also a really fun gimmick. Yeah that's right, a gimmick.
Eventually everything will be running on path tracing once we get to that point, but for now it's pretty much a nice little gimmick that makes games look that just much realistic.

Anyways, I'll go enjoy my new graphics card now, thanks for reading!
I'll see all my PS friends again once I eventually get my PS5, but that'll take a while, so you guys hang in there!

Bye bye!

Sort:

Decent trade. I'm currently selling my old PS4 and PC parts that haven't been used in a few years. Sold a i5 7600K CPU with a motherboard and cooler for around $150. Sold my old GTX 770 card for $20. Also trying to sell my GTX 1070 hoping to get a decent sum for it.

Those are some very decent prices! I hope you can sell em for good amounts. More money, more upgrades.

Nice purchase, good luck with you new PC build. Do you have a budget for what you want to build?

Yes. I've got $200~ left for the motherboard and CPU now to replace what I currently have. I'll be selling my current mobo and CPU so it'll help.

Yeah, man. Good luck with all of that.
