Welcome, once again, to another episode of "Knights of the Old Republic" a very old game that is also a very nice game.
If you're new here, this is just a series where I play through the game and poorly explain all of the things happening.
This is the part where I explain the story so far, so that anyone who has not read the previous 11 episodes (whoa that's a lot) can understand what the heck is going on.
If you think that reading is for nerds, just skip until you see the first screenshot.
Our protagonist's name is "Avren Drath", an amnesiac who is also a Jedi who is currently in a mission to find something called "The Star Forge", or at least the map that shows its location.
Like any RPG, our protagonist has a bunch of companions with different personalities and personal quests that follow him to the ends of the galaxy.
The last couple of episodes has the party running through the planet of "Tattooine". Home to the galaxy's biggest desert.
Currently, our heroes managed to make peace with a tribe of savages people who like to cosplay as sand Sand People, so that they stop killing the poor workers of Czerka Corporation, the game's "Big Bad Evil Company". Because every sci-fi setting needs one.
While doing this they also looked for the friends of Iziz, a Jawa who asked them to save his people from the Sand People.
With both of their missions completed, they return to the little village they landed at to get paid tell their employers about their success.
Actually i forgot to talk to the lady who gave me the sand people quest so i didn't get that reward...
Look Mom, I killed a thing!
The last episode ended with the party completing all of their little quests, all that remains is to return to the quest givers to obtain some rewards.
The first quest giver the party talk to is Iziz, who is extremely grateful for rescuing his people.
He's so grateful that he tells the party where the Star Map is located!
...
Yeah, so turns out you do need to complete this side quest to be able to finish the main quest.
And it also turns out, in a surprising turn of events, that some NPCs do know where the ancient map is.
Iziz explains that the plot device we're looking for is located on the East part of the desert, which no one wants to walk through unless they have a map that helps them get there that is.
...Dragons?
The Eastern dunes of Tattooine are somewhat boring, the only things here are a couple of lizards, a cave and some sand.
You'll be immediately drawn to the big cave in here, as it's literally the only structure you can see in this part of the desert.
Pictured here, the cave. Also pictured here, the giant dragon of death.
When you approach this gaping hole of the desert you'll be interrupted by a cutscene where one guy rushes in and gets killed by the dragon.
R.I.P Random NPC.
Needless to say, this does not end well.
For him that is.
If you get closer you'll see a man by the name of Komad, who is a hunter the party previously meet in Tattooine's Hunting Lodge (I just forgot to take pictures of that meeting).
Komad explains that the dragon is too thicc for him to hunt him like any other beast, and that he wishes for the party to help him to take the Dragon down.
He then explains that he would prefer to do it alone, honoring the hunt, but that it's almost impossible due to the sheer size of the thing and that it needs to be done because the beast could move closer to town and endanger people.
His plan to bring it down is as follows:
1-Place mines outside of Dragon's cave.
2-Bring Dragon some of its favorite snacks.
3-Dragon comes out and gets nuked.
4-Profit?
Unfortunately for him, he can't do it because he's a coward someone has to set the mines and someone else has to get the dragon chow.
Komad explains that the Sand People have some Banthas around here, giant furry animals who, incidentally, are the preferred snacks of this giant lizard thing.
They're also religious animals to the Sand People so they're not giving them up without a fight.
Pictured here, several angry Sand Peeps.
A battle with several Sand persons ensue and depending in how good your party is at this moment you will either suffer or breeze through it.
The Sand People only ambush you once and after you're done killing them all that remains is to take the Banthas to the cave.
The plan goes perfectly, and the Dragon leaves his(her?) den to eat some snacks before going back to sleep.
Immediately after emerging Komad comments on the dragon's thiccness.
Oh boy he THICC.
Real talk, he actually ate several grenades before dying.
Komad thanks us for the help.
This allows the party to safely enter the Dragon's lair, where the Star Map piece lies, alongside a couple of goodies...
I'm talking about the loot they have, not the corpses themselves.
Interestingly enough, inside the cave there's what seems to be "evidence" of the people who built the Star Forge.
At first glance it just looks like a bunch of rocks but if you keep looking you'll eventually see the shape of an alien of sorts.
And then there's the thing we've been looking for...
Your companions will react on finally being able to locate the Star Map.
Now that the party's picked this planet's Star Map, their business here is done.
But before they can leave the cave...
This man is called Calo Nord, a bounty hunter most people will remember from way back. When the party was stuck in "Tutorial Planet".
This encounter lets me test Avren's new force power "Lightning", much like the movie version it lets Avren shoot electricity from his hands, which jumps from target to target up to a maximum of three poor victims.
Despite the fact that Lightning it's a Dark Side power (which means that it's weakened due to the fact that Avren is a good person) it still remains as one of the most powerful area management powers a character can use in this game.
I got a little carried away during this fight.
The good news is that no one in our side died and the greater news is that force Lightning is overpowered.
With the bounty hunters dead and the Star Map secured, the party leaves Tattooine for the next planet on their list.
If you've made it this far then congratulations! Also, thanks for reading!
I'll be cutting the episode here, the other things I did on Tattooine and after deserve their own little episode.
I think I'll name "Companion Chronicles" because most of the stuff I did was talk to my companions about their issues.
And like I always say, thank you so much for reading and voting. Stay safe everyone!
