Hello gamers! We're back with a new community activity and this time we're trying something new. Grab some friends and gear up. We're doing a Left 4 Dead 2 Speedrun Team contest!

Gameplay events and contests like this is something we've been wanting to do for a while. You can expect more of these in the future! If this one doesn't suit your tastes then I'm sure there will be one for you in the foreseeable future. We will also keep doing normal blogging contests like we've done before.

I recommend you read the rules thoroughly if you want to participate. They're not overly complicated but there's a couple of things to keep in mind when forming your team and submitting your entry.

Contest rules

Premise: Complete the campaign "Dead Center" on Normal difficulty in the fastest time possible while killing as many zombies as possible. Final score is calculated by dividing seconds by number of zombies killed. Lowest score wins. You will have to kill at least 1 zombie.

Minimum team size: 3.

Team rules: You can join and enter the contest with multiple teams but you can't be on the same team as another person twice. You can team up with people who are not on Hive but for your team to be eligible for an entry they will have to sign up to Hive and make an introduction post. Info on how to easily invite friends are found below.

Tip: Use the comment section to look for teams if you don't have one, or feel free to join our Discord.

Additional rules: For your time and number of infected killed to be verified you will have to upload a video of your run. Make sure the kill count is visible in the video. The time for each section starts when you open the safe house door and ends when you enter the safe house at the end of the section. Loading screens and time spent idling in safe houses does not add to your time.

To verify your video you will have to write "Hello Hive!" and the Hive usernames of all your team members in the in game chat at the beginning of your video.

You can try as many times as you want but you can only submit one entry to the contest. Once you upload a video your numbers are set in stone.

All players will have to make it to the end of the chapter. Bots can die.

Prizes

The winning team will receive all the rewards (100%) from this post.

Additionally, as with every post in the community entries will be eligible for curation. Curation is in no way guaranteed just by entering. Posts will still have to be of quality and be made with an effort. All entries must be your own original content. As always, engagement both inside and outside of the community will also be considered when it comes to curation.

How to enter:

Your post must include:

  • A video of your run.
  • All your team members tagged.
  • A team name.

Also:

It would also be fun to hear a description of your strategy, if you had one, and some talk about the overall experience and how many times you tried before you were satisfied with your time and kills.

Each team will only need to make one post for their entry, preferably with the rest of the team set as beneficiaries for the post payouts. Everyone is welcome to post separately about their experience though.

If you don't know how to use 3Speak I recommend checking out this video: Upload a Video to 3Speak.

Even if someone gets a better time than you before you've submitted an entry you should still enter as all entries will be eligible for curation.

Inviting people to Hive

There are several ways to invite people to join Hive. We'll give you a few of them but you are welcome to use whatever method you prefer.

PeakD Referral Link

Everyone who uses PeakD can send their friends an referral link. This lets your friends quickly create a new account free of charge. To get your referral link go to this url:

https://peakd.com/@username/referrals

Remember to exchange @ username in the url with your own username.

Ecency

Another way to easily get an account free of charge is through Ecency: https://ecency.com/signup.

Newcomer resources

No matter what method you use you should inform your friends a little bit about Hive. Especially about keys and the general functions of the blockchain. There's a lot of great resources out there to learn more about Hive. We'll link to a few of them here:

Newbies Guide: This account features collections of posts explaining pretty much all of the important basics to Hive. Spending some time reading through these posts is some of the best time a newcomer can spend early on.

3 things Newbies should do in their first week on Hive: A great post explaining what your first steps on the blockchain should be. This post also features tips and quotes from a lot of experiences Hivers. Definitely worth checking out.

Guide to Hive - The Most Comprehensive Tutorial for the Hive Blockchain Ecosystem: If you prefer your information in video format then this is the one. The video is about 18 months old so some of the information may be outdated due to updates and changes made to the blockchain but the fundamentals are still true.

Extra notes!

Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any way or form. If you're not able to create your own work I would advise you not to enter. All entries will be checked and anyone found plagiarizing or stealing content from any source will be disqualified and muted/blacklisted from the community. It's simply not worth it.

This contest format is an experiment to test the waters for this sort of activities. We will require a minimum of 5 entries for the contest to be eligible. If we don't get enough entries the contest will be cancelled and the funds will be moved on to the next contest instead. All entries will still be curated.

If this contest turns out to be popular we will make this contest into a series where we go through all of the chapters.

This contest will run until the end of November. Entries will be closed at midnight 30th of November CET. Entries made after this point will not be considered for prizes but may still be curated.

Any questions can be asked in the comments. Feel free to tag @pusen to make sure I see it or reach out to me on Discord.

Even if you won't be taking part in this activity we would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on this in the comments. Do you have any recommendations for other games to play to bring the community together? Any other kind of activities? We would love to hear it all!

We're looking forward to seeing all your awesome entries!

Damn, would actually be so cool to do this. I already challenge myself to solo speed-run Dead Center on Normal but with the goal to kill as little as possible so this could be interesting.

I am in the EU though and always struggle to find folks. Never had the chance to participate in something like this before.

HiveFest⁶ Meetings Contest

I love this idea, unfortunetly I haven't played L4D so I can't really compete. can't wait to see some games that I actually can compete in. I love competetive :) Good luck everyone.

If you put yourself out there I'm sure someone would take you on your team even if you're a noob. :)

tbh I don't want to be an obstacle. I love competetive but I hate losing and making my team lose, would be even worse...

There might be other teams with only "noobs" you could join :D

hmm. I'll think of it

Uy... ¡Genial! ¡Buena suerte, muchachos! :))

I can't participate because my pc can't support this game :c

Damn, that's a shame. Do you have any recommendations for games to have contests with in the future that you can play? We've played with the thought of putting up a Brawlhalla tournament for instance. Maybe some Among Us.

it's a pleasure to be taken into account <3 unfortunately I have many limitations due to my computer and I completely discard any online game :c but if you ask me about any idea I would recommend a complicated game in which we must meet certain requirements (either score, time or just see who gets further) and I have in mind one:

there is a game called Shingeki no kyojin Tribute game (yes, it is based on the anime), created by feng li , which has a very difficult gameplay to master because of its somewhat complex controls, but it is not impossible and has many modes, one of them is waves, could be the one who manages to get further , also has an online mode that lends itself to many other competitions such as a tournament in waves based on the person who kills more titans or who wins the last to survive as it is a game that you must have a lot of skill and good reflexes also in a single game can participate 99 players at the same time, is not a game of the most popular but if I say that it is very good.

Thanks! We'll keep this one in mind going forward :)

Can you play Smash 64 emulated on the PC? I don't think a lot of people still have their N64 around.

Yes! And it's very easy, bro, the project 64 emulator👾👾 can emulate almost any Nintendo 64 game. And the best thing is the emulators that require fewer resources, so for those who have equipment with limitations, they would have a better opportunity to participate in the games. community activities, and in fact I have even tested it on a dual core 2 processor.😅
0 ghz from 2004, and with 3 gb ram using integrated processor graphics and I was able to play smash bros 64 without problems, in the same way I have good ideas for games with high, medium or in this case low requirements, in the same way I tell you to the community not to be discouraged by this type of inconvenience,😃
I come from having really low quality equipment and with many limitations and working hard on hive I have managed to update all my hardware and start setting up my own studio little by little🐻🔥, so cheer up🙌🏻, greetings to everyone from the cave❗🐻🎮🚀

Cool man, I'll check out what we can do with this. Would definitely be fun to include some retro gaming in these initiatives.

I should try this out, I hope it will be fun

Do you have a team? :)

Que buen juego, me acuerdo cuando lo jugaba en el colegio con mis amigos

To the information of anyone who might be reading this. Since we had no entries into this contest the contest has, of course, been cancelled. The funds will be stored and used for upcoming contests instead.
