Hello @hivegaming community, playing Resident Evil 4 for the first time in 2005 was an experience that can hardly be described in words and that you have to have experienced firsthand to fully understand. Not only is it one of the best video games in history, but it also revolutionized its series and the industry in general thanks to its shoulder-mounted camera and aiming system, forever changing the way we understand third-person action. A timeless masterpiece whose impact continues to resonate today, but one that, unfortunately, we will never be able to experience again like that first time 18 years ago, an experience we treasure like gold in our memories. So, when Capcom announced it was working on a remake, we couldn't help but feel both excitement and fear.

Excitement at having the opportunity to play an updated and improved version of one of the games we've enjoyed most in our lives, fear that it might not live up to expectations or be unable to replicate the sensations the original conveyed, magnified by that double-edged sword that nostalgia often is.

But now, after having completed it from start to finish, we can say loud and clear that Resident Evil 4 Remake is, with its minor flaws and absences, a true marvel whose greatest merit has been, precisely, allowing us to rediscover this legend of the medium as if it were the first time.

Thus, we will once again accompany Leon S. Kennedy on his journey to a remote village in Spain, where he must find Ashley Graham, the daughter of the President of the United States, who has been kidnapped by a dangerous cult known as Los Iluminados. Of course, things soon go awry, and before we know it, we'll find ourselves fighting for survival in a village where everyone wants us dead and where, of course, there's no shortage of nightmarish creatures to face.

Just like in the 2005 classic, we'll have to overcome several sections in which we'll have to protect Ashley, preventing enemies from kidnapping or harming her. When the president's young daughter accompanies us, we can order her to approach us or keep her distance as the situation requires, although this time she doesn't have a health bar, and we won't have to spend our healing items on her. However, if she suffers an attack, we'll have to rush to her aid to get her back on her feet. In any case, in some places, there are still closets where we can ask her to hide so we can fight without having to keep an eye on her.

The script itself is very faithful to the original game, although the narrative has been improved and now delves deeper into certain aspects of the plot, something achieved through the introduction of new dialogue, video sequences, and documents. Here, we especially want to highlight the enormous improvements both Luis Sera (Serra in the remake) and Ashley have made in this new version. The former now has more prominence, is better developed, has more time to shine, and proves to be a more complex character, while the young woman is no longer an irritating girl and has a more active role, always looking for ways to help Leon when the situation calls for it. As you might guess, the story is still a mere excuse to take us from one place to another shooting, but it is true that this time it has a bit more substance and greater internal coherence, something that has been achieved without abandoning the crazy tone that has always characterized this installment.

The first time you start the game, you'll have three difficulty levels available: Assisted, Standard, and Hardcore, which are equivalent to Easy, Normal, and Hard. Beyond the toughness of the enemies, the damage they do, and their sheer number, this also affects the prices in the Peddler's shop and other details, such as not being able to lower the difficulty to Hardcore if you feel unable to do so. According to the game itself, Standard is the ideal option for those who haven't played the 2005 classic, while Hardcore is designed for veterans of the fourth installment of the series. We opted for the latter option in our first playthrough and believe it strikes the perfect balance, offering a demanding and very overwhelming experience that made us strive and make the most of all our resources, but without ever becoming frustrating or unfair.

In practice, all this translates into impeccable, frenetic, tense, stressful, varied, and downright fun shootouts that won't let us breathe for a second as we move around constantly and use every resource at our disposal. It's a game that, at the controls, could hardly be more satisfying, and mechanics like knife blocking strike us as a fantastic success.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is a great game. It's one of the best, most intense, and most varied action-adventures we've enjoyed in recent years. A title that doesn't let us get bored for a single second and never ceases to delight us with new situations and exquisitely designed combats brimming with possibilities. Furthermore, the huge amount of changes, new features and surprises it brings with it makes it tremendously enjoyable regardless of whether or not we have played the original, finding a perfect balance between the new and the old that works wonderfully. We are not going to deny that we have missed some mythical moments, that the secondary missions have been unnecessary and that the absence of Separate Ways has really hurt us, but beyond that, we are faced with an outstanding and highly recommended work that has succeeded in its difficult mission of doing justice to a video game legend.

Loved the original, probably comes a close second to RE2 for me but was amazing to play and the changes in how you play, gave a fresh outlook on the series!

Este juego sin duda es todo un clasico, me encanto sus graficos cuando salio y ahora mas con la remasterizacion, no solo por su historia tambien por los retos y las armas que desbloqueas cuando lo pasas, incluso los trajes son bonitos.
This game is definitely a classic, I loved its graphics when it came out and now even more with the remastering, not only for its story but also for the challenges and weapons that you unlock when you pass it, even the costumes are nice.
This is one of the best remakes in recent years, the developers improved many things from the original game, what I liked the most is the more serious tone of the story and characters. Best regards!
Good Post of Resident Evil 4 Remake. This game is spectacular for many reasons, the dubbing, the redesigned characters, the monsters, the story, everything Resident evil 4 is perfect and the remake gave it a modern facelift, blessed are those who can play it.
