Before our Pyro Archon finally graced us with her release this patch the previous champion of Pyro has to be Arlecchino and she is still very competitive even after Mavuika. That's mostly thanks to her ease of use because all you need to do with her is use her skill and then attack. If her health should dip too low just use her Burst to simultaneously heal and deal a tremendous amount of damage. She surpassed the previous Pyro champion Hu Tao because while the playstyle is very similar and they even use the same weapon type, Hu Tao's damage is maximized by using the jump cancel exploit which lets you do a Charged Attack without moving around. Normally polearm characters dash a substantial distance when using a Charged Attack and that could reposition Hu Tao away from her target and force you to run back to it to continue dealing damage. Arlecchino doesn't have to deal with that because you're going to be using her normal attacks instead.
Clorinde is similar to Arlecchino in that you use her skill first and then attack. The difference is that her Burst just deals damage and instead you'll use her skill again to heal when needed. Both characters accumulate something called Bond of Life which increases their damage but also prevents normal healing hence needing Arlecchino's Burst and Clorinde's skill to do so instead.
As for the 4 star characters, Rosaria is a major part of the Morgana team. You can use her skill and Burst to reposition your character and apply Cryo. The purpose of Morgana is to cause Freeze reactions all the time thereby preventing enemies from being able to attack you while you deal damage to them. Chevreuse is less appealing as a playable character compared to her character development. She can only really be used on Pyro and Electro teams, needs to have very high HP and the Pyro/Electro reaction is Overloaded which has splash damage and also knockback. Just like how you want to jump cancel with Hu Tao to avoid repositioning after her Charged Attack, you'd have to go chasing after enemies after Overload hits them. Still she does improve Pyro/Electro and therefore Overloaded damage.
Finally there's the newcomer Lan Yan. She's another teleporting character but this time with an Anemo element meaning Swirl. Anemo's always been good because of that reaction and the fact that you can equip them with the Viridescent Venerer to lower damage resistance by enemies. She's also a shield character though how useful an Anemo shield still needs to be seen. Most enemy damage isn't going to be Anemo. Moreover her use will come from the fact that she can deal consistent Anemo damage which means consistent Swirl.
Anybody actually skip over the Mavuika and Citlali banners to go for these guys? If so who are you going for?
