If you play Fallout 76, take a look at the new updates coming next season for perk cards! A lot of perks are getting cheaper to equip, especially those less used in the current meta. It looks like Bethesda wants to make more builds viable, but instead of nerfing good perks, they're reducing the points cost of a few good ones and a lot of less-useful ones.

In case you're not familiar with the perks in 76, Fallout games run on the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat system.

  • Strength: carrying capacity and melee power
  • Perception: detecting enemies, shooting rifles, and throwing grenades
  • Endurance: how much damage you can take, and how well you resist diseases or environmental effects
  • Charisma: Cost for NPC vendors, unlocks quest options, and in a multiplayer game like Fallout 76, boosts the degree to which you can support your teammates
  • Intelligence: experience gain, ability to use computers, and proficiency with high-tech weapons
  • Agility: determines ability to jump, damage from falling, and pistol use
  • Luck: Affects item drops and all sorts of other little things where you least expect it

In Fallout 76, each of these stats can have up to 15 points, and perk cards can have 1-5 stars. The maximum total stars in perks equals the rank of the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat affecting it. This update looks to mean more perks can be used thanks to lower costs. Charisma also allows perks to be shared with the team with a maximum perk cost equal to a third of your charisma, so 9 Charisma allows sharing the majority of good 3-star perks. However, reduced costs mean more perk options for lower Charisma builds to share, and more perks might work for typical builds.

If you sign in before the week ends on Tuesday, you can join in Alien Invasion events on the hour every hour for special rewards. The alien mask I have in that screenshot is from the last Fasnacht event, but alien blasters and disintegrators and more are available for a limited time.

I also managed to reach rank 150 in seasonal rewards, so for the first time since I started playing, I have access to the best unlimited reward drops until the season ends. See you in the wastelands, Vault Dwellers!

This looks like fun! From what I've heard its online? I have a buddy that wants to play this but I just haven't gotten around to getting it!

When fallout 3 got released I was obsessed about that game 🤣

Fallout 3 was my gateway drug, too. New Vegas had it's flaws, especially on release before patches, but it was amazing. 4 was a bit of a letdown with the changes in art direction and story. 76 has had continual upgrades each season expanding the options for things to do, new NPCs, and a growing story. I can see why people were mad when it launched as just a skeleton of a game, but it has been fleshed out and it's properly a ghoul now.

New Vegas I quite enjoyed... the aspect the casino town and all that.. but more so I enjoyed the story line... but arriving at number four... well.... I have to agree.. I fell out there, I started the game but never really pushed through... it got boring.

I'll be sure to give 76 a try one of these days!

Damn, I need to get onboard with this game. I have avoided it after two false starts!

Haven't played this... loved the first Fallout games though.
