What's up fellow Hive gamers? Have you seen the new game Crownrend yet? I haven't had much luck with Hive games so far except for Splinterlands which expanded into the failed football game and Mario Kart clone which looks lame and won't even load on my phone or PC. There was also the tower defense game which was OK for a few days, but then I got bored and never returned. I had fun with Crypto Shots for a little while, but I got bored of that too. I used to play the farming game, but I never check that anymore either. There were some other games I tried on Hive as well, but they are not even worth mentioning. I am still excited for Holozing to come out, but it seems like we've been waiting forever for that to launch.
I didn't have any liquid crypto lying around and wanted to ape into Crownrend so I unstaked 40,000 DEC from my land to cover the $10 starter fee for the game and converted the rest to the in-game currency, DENAR. That was a big mistake because I bought DENAR at 14 cents only to be worth 6 cents a day later. If I had just waited a day, I could've gotten twice the amount of DENAR, but that's what happens when FOMO kicks in right? I probably would've been better off leaving that money farming grain on my Splinterlands Land, but I just think of it as a loan to myself and will slowly power my land back up. Land is boring right now anyway so at least I have another game I enjoy playing now.
There's not much to Crownrend. This screenshot is pretty much it. You won't find any animations or cool art like in Splinterlands. It's basically just a numbers and mining game that you can collect every four hours. The thing that makes it interesting though is that you can jack other people's earnings if your stats are better than theirs. I noticed that most players advance their Army Strength and neglect the other army stats, but I didn't want people messing with me so I leveled my Army Toughness up to level 10. You can only attack other players eight times and it takes time to recharge so I'll attack others right as I'm about to claim so someone stronger doesn't jack my DENAR when I'm gone.
Chests
One part of the game I've yet to explore is opening chests because they cost 100 DENAR and I lack the patience to save up that much, but I've noticed that some Epic and Legendary items will boost your stats and can sell for quite a bit on the market so some people may have gotten lucky that way, but it seems like spending that DENAR on just leveling up your stats would be better, but who doesn't love opening chests right? If I collect every four hours I could earn about 20 DENAR a day so it would take me a week to save up for a chest so I doubt I'll be doing that anytime soon. Have any of you opened up chests yet?
Conclusion
So is Crownrend worth your time? Well, that depends on what you want. It's only $10 to get started in the game so it's not that big of an investment, but it seems the token DENAR is slowly losing value so if you looking for a way to extract cash from the game you'll probably lose. I honestly do like the game and am excited to collect my claim and attack other weaker players every four hours, but let's see how I feel a month from now. It's a very passive game that only takes a few minutes and clicks a day so if you're into that kind of gameplay, you might like it too.
Get in the game!
Thanks for reading about my first couple of days playing this new game on Hive. For 40,000, DEC I was able to level up to around player rank 68 and scrolled down to the bottom of the player list to see there are over a thousand players so far. I don't know if this is the peak or just the beginning of something great like Splinterlands but I've had fun so far. I don't know what I get if you use my referral link to join the game below but thank you if you do.
