Inside | It was...Weird. 😰

Hey, Gamers! 🤩

A good friend of mine recommended a game called “Inside”. I was like “Is this a surgeon game?” 😅

I do not know what I was thinking, haha. 😆 So I was looking for a “puzzle” game or any game that would require some strategic thinking.

So I checked both the Steam and Nintendo shop to compare prices. On Steam, it was a better deal as always, plus, I bought it bundled with Limbo. 😃

The game started in a dark forest with a boy in a red shirt. There is no narrative or text, just a sinister sound in the background.

It was so dark that I had to customize my hardware’s brightness, haha. Navigation was easy, just the arrow keys and Z(I customized it).

It seemed like bad guys were looking for me, so I had to hide using movable boxes and behind the trees. 😰

I got into a farm of corn and wondered if I was in the right direction.

The trail went on with no clue, so I had to trigger random stuff to get clues.

I got to a farm with a big machine in the middle. I had no idea how I would trigger another opening to the side of the wall.

The chicks were following me anywhere and I knew it had to do with the machine to trigger something.

Aside from boxes as a stool to get things above, a pig was a nice choice too. Again, this is a strategy game so I knew the pig had something to do with the puzzle. 😁

The vibe is somewhat giving megalophobia. Megalophobia is a type of anxiety disorder in which a person experiences intense fear of large objects. (Source: Google).

Pretend like one of them! 😆

As the game progressed, the story was getting clearer, just like finishing a puzzle.

So I guess these people were drugged or sort of stripped from being human in a way.

In this game, I had to pretend to be one of them so whatever they did I had to just copy them, like the walking, jumping, turning to right or left,- just basically copy them.

Finally a change of environment. It was underwater so it had some restrictions. Drowning was the main concern but then a submarine like this.

An upside-down water scenario., I do not know what to call it, haha. Eerie vibes match the background. I was bracing myself for any jumpscare. At this point, I was able to breathe into the water.

I then became a blob of humans. 🙃 Yes, a ball of human.

It was freaking weird and very strange. It was giving me goosebumps LITERALLY.

I would say the developers were creative to even thought of this concept, haha. 😁 It was not hard to navigate but then there was like a delay like an added weight to it. It cannot jump though, that was the annoying part. It would then an extra work to find boxes to get to high places.

Cue in Rumbling from Attack on Titan, haha. 😁 This thing was like a war machine destroying everything in sight.

It was both chaotic and satisfying. 😌 Now I can revenge whahaha. 😆 Oh, and I can swim too, or should I say, we? Also, since it was a ball of humans, it had different voices extra creepy.😰

It then led me to an open space with a view of the ocean. It stopped right on the shore.

I then tried to move around and I thought it was just loading for the next level. I was waiting for some triggers and the camera just panned slowly farther and farther from the character. In my guess, the game was over. And yeah, the credits rolled out. It was the end. 🥲

I would say the game was both haunting and emotional. Monotonous flow. Not overstimulating environment. None of the colorful palette, just shades of blacks and whites, that’s all.
Not your typical bursting colors of a game. The structure and the BGM were additional to the mysteriousness of the game. The theme of the game plays with your emotions, like running from the bad guys and controlling puppets. A little palpitate when I was about to be caught, haha. At the end of the game, it gave me more questions thus giving me something to ponder on this game. 😊
