We haven't touched any games for the past 2 months and probably wouldn't in the near future, but we'll sneak in a little playtime every now and then for this baby (and Street Fighter 6 too, funny how both games high on our list this year are numbered 6).
Anyway, we used to be old Armored Core fans so it's kinda mindblowing seeing jank being spiced up into this level of polish. Looks like FromSoft has all the budget and computational power they need now to make the Armored Core that we deserve.
It's basically a mecha-oriented action-RPG with modern controls. Well RPG without the traditional leveling system anyway. Hopefully it's an extremely gigabrained game with a high amount of unique and impactful customizations. The screenshot above looks very promising. So many parts and parameters to tweak around with. Tomorrow, 25th of August is a real good day to be a gamer if you have the time to sink into it.
There's plenty of varied environments, insane amounts of level verticality and complexity, and ways to traverse them with your custom-built mecha. Throw in an epic boss battle every now and then and you have something that truly pushes gaming to its limits. It even looks like a bullet hell game at some point.
Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is already looking like GOTY from the looks of the video. But that's what we said when we were salivating over Cyberpunk 2077's trailers back then so maybe just wait for the reviews tomorrow! It's coming out on PS4/5, XBox One/Series X/S, and PC.

Dayum, I'm still stuck on the Armored Core 2 era of PS2 and that was my last play of this game! Good times
Game of the Year this year is going to be a tough one to pick. So many great games already released and more to come. Armored Core 6 certainly looks amazing and I am all for continuing retro franchises like this (true to form for example).
The race for the GOTY this year looks exciting, I think Baldur's Gate 3 deserves the W more than any other game, I still have to play a lot of games of this year but the things BD3 did are just madness.
seriously can't wait to check it out here in a few hours!
Let's hope it's a good robot 🤖 chrome ballistic action game a crazy one if it comes out like the trailer.
