All I Want For Christmas Is New Vegas 2

in Hive Gaming3 years ago

So I was having a think about what my gaming wish would be because it is a pretty big question and hard to choose just one wish. DLC for red dead redemption 2? GTA 6 to release? Cyberpunk to get some DLC and get fixed... no, I think I need something a bit more realistic.

I actually really like Cyberpunk, I bought it for 35 euro during The Black Friday sale and so far haven't come across many bugs, especially anything game-breaking... But anyway that's a topic for another blog post. This is all about my own personal gaming wish.

After much thought and going back and forth on what I'd love to see happen in the gaming world, something that would make me jump for joy if I heard the news, something that maybe some others out there in the Hive Gaming Community might want too.... Fallout: New Vegas 2.

That's what I wish for. Microsoft owns Obsidian Entertainment, Bethesda Game Studios, and Bethesda Softworks, so it is a possibility, maybe at some point soon we'll hear an announcement, fingers crossed. As a fallout fan, I would love to enter another world created and written by the people who gave me one of my favourite games.

Why this though, what's so special about New Vegas? Let me answer that, Fallout: New Vagas is such a rich world to me. It has the perfect balance of Dystopian Post-apocalyptic themes, while also not taking itself too seriously. Exactly what a fallout game should be, so well written and with quests that not only make you question the quest givers but ask yourself. "Is this the right thing to do?" You're put in total control of the story and can go about it any way you see fit. Do you want to join the NCR and bring the old-time government back to the Mojave Wasteland? Or side with Ceasar's Legion and bring about the old-school Roman rule with brutal wasteland ideals thrown into the mix? Side with Mr.House and have the Mojave policed by Robots which are death on wheels? Or choose to say no to the above and rule over The Wasteland yourself, the choice is yours to make.

It's all well and good to have those choices for the ending, that's great. But, as the saying goes the journey is more important than the destination. Totally true, especially in the case of Fallout: New Vagas. Some of the most memorable things for me during the game where the side quests, some of my favorite factions included The Kings a group of Elvis Impersonators living in the slums of Free Side just beyond the New Vagas Strip. Or The Great Kahns, who have been driven into isolation by the NCR after a tragic miscommunication led to most of their faction being massacred. Every single faction in the game not only have rich backstories and lore but are also connected with one another either negatively or positively. Sometimes if you choose to work with a major faction there are many smaller factions that'll hostile when they spot you roaming through the wasteland.

Also, side note. One thing I think is funny about Obsidian. They basically gave The Brotherhood of Steel the finger, subtly giving that to Bethesda too, I think. Each fallout game Bethesda has released prominently features BOS Armour as the box art, whereas New Vagus features a new creation of there's, the NCR Ranger. And where are the BOS? Hiding in a hole in the ground for the whole game after being nearly Annihilated by the NCR and what does each major faction make you do with the BOS, blow up their bunker with them inside it. I have a feeling that's Obsidian saying to the fans and Bethesda, Fallout is more than the Brotherhood of Steel Armour. I don't know if it is or not, but that's what I think.

In New Vagus, there are no good guys, no bad guys. There are people scratching out a living however they can in a world devastated by nuclear war. You choose who to side with, let the game ask you why you chose that way, morally grey areas are what awaits you in this world there aren't really any right answers of how you play the game or who you side with. It's all your call.

As you can probably tell I can talk and talk about how much I love this game, but, why then would I want to see a second one? Because, New Vagus is nearly 10 years old and I think an entry back into the Fallout universe made by Obsidian for this generation of consoles would be amazing, especially if they had the time they needed to perfect a new title. It doesn't have to be a sequel either, it could be set anywhere, so long as Obsidian were the ones to write and develop it, I wouldn't care.

That's my Christmas Gaming Wish anyway, if an announcement came out for it, I couldn't tell you happy I would be. Pre-order, don't even need to see any Gameplay, Obsidian, and Fallout in the same trailer, done.

I haven't played New Vegas yet, but it's on my upcoming list of games to play. I have played quite a bit of fallout 3, and I can say that it is a delight of a game, although everyone tells me that even though fallout 3 is very good, they also say that New Vegas is amazing and better.

I think the fallout series as a whole is great but there's something special about New Vegas that has brought me back throughout the years. Well worth checking out if you enjoy rpgs

Fallout: New Vegas is still talked about today on forums with posters debating which faction was the correct choice for the Mojave Wasteland. I think maybe if New Vegas 2 was a prequel that had the player set up all the factions before the Courier begins his story would be a cool take. Obsidian hit it out of the park with New Vegas and I hope your wish comes true. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks so much, I hope it does too. The factions are a really hard choice which is what makes it such a great game. There isn't a here's the bad guys and here's the good guys kind of choice, it's really a grey area. I mean om face value, the Legion are the bad ones, NCR are good and Mr.House is a good choice too, but then again each of them have really good reasons not to choose them haha

Also I like your idea for a prequel, it would be cool being on the team with Ceasar and the followers of the apocalypse and seeing him take over and form some small tribes into the Legion, maybe even end it with your character going to warn the NCR and end it with the first battle of hoover dam.
