DCity Tutorial and Update

Welcome to my City

you can find a map of your city by going to steemcity.io clicking on "city" and then clicking on "map" which is at the top of the screen third tab from the right

Today I learned that my rank in DCity has dropped to 209 which is below the 200 spot which is needed to make a daily HIVE income.

you can find your rank by going to "ranking"

My first instinct was to invest more, as I like the HIVE trickle income

But very shortly after, I decided to stop chasing the trickle income and instead build a really cool city.

As my city currently stands, it earns a daily sim income because of its population, which is enough income to buy me a new card every 4-5 days, depending on whether I have been robbed or not.

I also earn WEED because I am lucky enough to have a WEED Farm and a Dispensary.

Earning SIMS and WEED is lots of fun

And these are games, not jobs, so I decided to build a city that I would actually like to live in.

Some of the changes I have decided on will lose me SIMS income, but that is OK. Bragging rights and being able to show off my City seem more important to me this morning.

The first order of business was to kick out all of the homeless people

This seemed cruel at first, as all homeless people need a place to call home. I got around the guilt of kicking homeless people out of my digital city, by pretending that I was buying them all tiny homes, somewhere away from my super cool city.

here is a screen shot of my dashboard, where you can see that I have a 50 popularity score, I don't know if that is "good" or "bad" as I have nothing to compare it to. I also see that my city is not very creative, educational, or technology minded. This will have to change as I love reading, art, and having wifi.

lower in my dashboard, I saw a really easy place to sell my homeless or, as I told myself, ship them off to cities which will provide them with tiny homes

To see the best price I went to the market

Screenshot 20200619 at 10.45.34 AM.png

I saw that homeless were selling for 61 sim the cheapest, or 0.324 swap.hive.

A responsible city owner would probably done some math to figure out the best way to sell these. But I decided to just list all my homeless people for 50 SIM each.

I didn't do this because it was financially responsible, I did it because I did not want to play with my calculator in order to build my dream city.

Good thing I am sheltered in place

And good thing gave birth less than a month ago to a super sleepy baby cause selling homeless people is taking a long time. Devs, if you read this, please tell me how to sell a bunch of cards at the same time so I don't have to click click click to get rid of homeless.

This is starting to feel like work.

I am selling by going to the little cart and clicking sell. I can also trade the homeless people in but that only gives me 1 sim, and I like the idea of 50 better.

It might net me enought to buy an Art Gallary so I can receive a background

Turns out that kicking all the homeless people out gave me a slightly lower voting power (which I don't know what is used for) made me 18 points more popular (good thing I guess) and raised my income.

My income went up because my unemployment level went down.

I guess those homeless were eating up my resources...

My City now looks like this

Screenshot 20200619 at 11.21.11 AM.png

My new city now makes those immigrants look real menacing. They look like the crime stoppers signs we have at my condo complex.

It also looks like if I get rid of 29 immigrants, I can earn 6 more sims per day.

The only logical explanation I can come up with for immigrants eating up my resources (6 sim per day) and making my city less popular, is that they are colonizers.

So the next step is to sell the colonizers

After that, I will be purchasing an art gallery, and then a research center. I also aim to get more weed farms and a few breweries.

From there, I will try my hand at buying more random cards with 800 SIMS at a time, since that is a lot more fun than scourging the market looking for cards that will make me more wealthy.

Aaaand, if you want a loooooooong term plan, I will also be getting rid of all my "basic" homes and getting only luxury homes. Nothing but the best for my peeps.

If you have fun and build a place you love, then the income will be automatic after all.

Great tutorial! Good luck:)

Thank you!

I think selling my homeless for 50 SIM each was too cheap because I only have 1 left on the market.

But maybe it was just the right price, as now I have an ART Gallery, can get a background, and am making more SIMS per day.

Friend I have a lot to learn, but I would try this tutorial first

Nice in-depth tutorial while sharing your city. Slowly but surely you will keep rising! I stopped investing money I used to buy hive since I put a bit in to boost me up, now use SIM and hive gained from here and Splinterlands for more cards.

Managing the city is fun :)

I'm having fun managing too. I don't think just re-investing my SIM will get me top 200 again, but I will keep doing it anyway.
